Fixed my heat shield then found this.

Like several others on here I noticed a rattle and found my muffler heat shield had come loose. Some cheap fender washers and it was back in place.
As I was finishing up I noticed the pin that holds one of the gas tank straps in place was pushed over to one side and the cotter pin that held it in place appeared as though it were about to let loose.
So I bent the cotter pin back into shape and added a washer since the spacing, as you can see in the pics, is not very tight around the pin.
Still have to check out the other straps to see if they are in the same shape, but for now I'm not worried about this one letting loose.

I had to do the same thing to my heat shield several months ago. Good find on the tank strap pin clips. If you are worried about the spring pins coming loose, replace them with stainless standard cotter pins.
