For several months I'd been experiencing a very annoying rear suspension noise that others have also reported. Much worse lately because of poor road conditions and potholes everywhere.
The rattle/clank was most obvious when hitting a bump and turning left. It occurred sometimes hitting bumps turning to the right, but much less frequently.
I discovered the cause was the chain hanging down from the middle of the spare tire. I secured the chain with a couple of zip ties, and the noise stopped. I thought no way could that be the cause of what I was hearing, but the noise is completely gone now.
It seems from some previous posts that the chain is sometimes tucked under the spare, and sometimes left hanging.
