That is one great looking 4Runner you've got there. Really tough looking without being too over the top. Beautiful house BTW too.
I love the pic that shows the heat cranked up to 73 when it was 59 outside. That must have been a pretty cold day for you in Cali! (Don't mind me, I'm just a jealous New Englander).

Thanks Thai, I am liking the tires a lot so far and I get to test them off road on Sunday. On road they are definitely worse riding than my Nittos but still very bearable, especially for an MT. I have put about 700 miles on them thus far.
My next mod is sliders, I think I may be ordering those today.

Dude, with M/Ts, you will see that off-roading has now become a lot easier! Traction is much better. Since you have a tire that is made to be aired down, you can air down to 8 psi without worries. (For me, i air down to at least 18 psi as soon as i hit off-road.) Trust me, airing down + M/T traction = you will go places with ease. I saw a big difference when i went to M/Ts off-road.
I know that this is a tough question to answer, but how is the road noise? Is it that much more noticeable over the Nittos?
BTW, like all M/Ts, you need to be religious with rotating them! Also, if this is not your daily driver, then make sure that you drive the 4runner often to get the tires more uniformed, avoiding long term flat spotting. (I had this happen on my Firestone Destination M/T due to long term inactivity.)
I always wonder about leasing and off-roading...won't they penalize you for pinstripping and other damages? Or are you planning to buy it at the end of the lease?

As for road noise it is safe to say these are much more noticeable than my Nittos were as the Nittos were relatively quiet for an AT tire. I think I can also safely say that these are quieter than most other MT's though (although since these are my first set of MT's I am far from an expert) if I had to compare these to anything in the area of road noise, I would say they are similar to a set of BFG AT's that have seen some miles. If I have music on, they are barely noticeable. The one thing that I am just not used to is the "lug slap" that you feel when you are just starting to move/under about 4-5mph. All and all though these are great tires and the road noise is not bad at all and a compromise easily made, even considering this is my daily driver.
You are right, there is a chance that I might have to pay some penalties when I turn my truck in, but in this case the pros definitely outweigh the cons. My dad worked at Toyota Motor Sales, USA for some 37 years ( I actually start at TMS in May
) and this allows my family to be eligible for a special lease program in which Toyota also pays the insurance and all the maintenance on the cars for a price that is still less than you would find at the dealer. Being a 21 year old male, living in Southern California my insurance payments would be through the roof, so this is the best option for me. Also since my dad worked at Toyota for so long and since I turn my car into national headquarters, rather than some dealer, they are usually more forgiving when it comes to penalties/fees ( I hope this trend continues ). There is a chance that I will buy this truck when I decide to end the lease, but it is doubtful since I would have to start paying insurance and maintenance, which by itself would be damn close to the actual car payment I now make. Also, with the lease program I am on, I can keep this car as long as I want without any sort of restrictions on miles or things like that ( its good considering I already have 26,000 miles on my 2008 ) .

In the past I have only done 4 tire rotations, but with these MT's I am going to try to always rotate all 5 tires to keep them in the best shape possible. Do you think every 5000 miles is a good enough interval? I have seen guys claiming with pride that they rotate their tires every 3000 miles, but I feel that it might be more than you actually need to.

BlairB, truck looks awesome! I plan to do the FJ springs as well in the spring/summer. Yeah CJ3Flyr gave me that idea last year. Just wondering, how hard was it to remove the front springs? I looked at how to take out the front shocks and springs without a spring compressor over at toyota120.com. Is that the way you did it or another method? I'm trying to figure out if there's another way to remove the springs. thanks.
