FJ Springs Question

Got all my stuff together and putting it all on Friday.

Of all the threads I've read relating to FJ springs, only recently have I seen a couple which suggest one of the front springs is intentionally taller/longer than the other- something about the battery and fuel tank being on the same side as the driver (lots of weight).

Is there any truth to this? The front springs I have sitting in my garage look exactly the same...

One should have green and gray markings, this is the passenger side. The drivers side is green and yellow. There IS a difference. I read nearly every thread on the board an didn't see it. Myself and another member put mine on, let it settle, and one side was nearly an inch higher. The next day we swapped them, verified one was taller, and measurements after showed both sides being the same. I learned the hard way and had to do it twice.

Yeah, I was wondering what in the hell that paint meant, knew it had to be something important. Exactly what I needed Ark, thanks.

Hey, weren't you planning on doing something in addition to the springs or was that all? What is your impression of the ride after the swap?

I did the FJ springs on the front along with a 1/2" thick Toytec spacer. I LOVE the setup. Look in my sig, then click where it says the lift. It'll take you to my writeup. The difference wasn't huge, but it was there and really threw us off.

Nice write up, and the truck does look great with the Hankooks; those alone add a lot to the overall package.

I guess I lucked out getting the Michelins stock- they look good and ride so great I'm hesitant to upgrade the tires too. That and I only have 16K easy miles on 'em so it would kind of be a waste of $. When I need new ones I'll do it right.

I'm curious to see what I end up with with the Daystar 1.25" "leveling" spacers up front and doing nothing (but springs) to the rear. I'm going exclusively for level with the spacers and I am going to be PISSED if I end up nose-high. Amazing that with all the write ups in half a dozen forums I can't find consistency on what to expect from them.

I'll post before and after pics with the spacers, and bet your ass they're coming out and going back if I get more than 1.25" of lift from them. Also, I got the FJ springs from a guy on FJ Forums and was surprised to open the box and see that he included the FJ shocks too. I figure I'll swap the OE 4Runner shocks for the FJ's while I'm in there and see what I get. Worst that'll happen is I won't like the ride and I'll swap back to the Runner's shocks.
