On our last full day in Ouray we ran California Pass and Corkscrew Gulch.

// Some local culture on the way to Moab
// We hit Fins and Things as soon as we got to Moab. Lots of ups and downs, and it was definitely challenging the longer wheelbase of the 4Runner. The slickrock is AWESOME to drive on, though! Tons of grip both up and down; very big change from the rocks of Ouray.

Please prepare to go back on the 100 mile tour again next year. I would love to do that. Did you guys camp out on the rim? I guess so, thus the picture of the stars. Awesome. I could sit up all night looking at the stars. RTT would be a must however with the tarantulas and scorpions. Really makes you want a black light, and a pee bottle for the tent....
Really, really enjoyed meeting all of you and look forward to years beyond. Thanks again for really killing yourselves to make it to the Medano camp out. I know what you were dealing with as I drove it straight back from C. Springs to Dallas. Only 12 hours, not the grueling 17 you guys pulled. Thanks again, I really appreciate the friendships and wish you all the very, very best. Please stay in touch.

//Serious drag of my tire carrier...seriously these things were like rear sliders a lot of things that clipped even Jones bumper didn't hurt mine...just slid right off. Check out me digging into the sand, lol

Oh yeah- You were right, those wheels do look badass on your truck 4-sure.

Question- If I were to go next year, are there trails that are scenic AND easy for a non-offroader like myself? I don't mind getting my 'Runner dirty, but do not want to incur any damages not having sliders/skids.

You would do just fine. There was a couple stock FJs and a Tundra on the trails. Majority of them are flat, dirt/rocky roads. I'm sure you have been around just the same getting to some of those secret fishing holes.

We just pulled-in to Santa Fe. We're cleaning-up and then heading out to explore.
@Antman - Like Will said, there are plenty of trails where you'd do fine in Ouray. Some of them might make you nervous because of the steep drops and severe off-camber positions on some of them, but you wouldn't hit anything. The only trails in Ouray that I went on that I'd advise against a stock truck running are Governor's Gulch, Black Bear, Miner's Pass, and Poughkeepsie. However, we did see way less capable vehicles running on all of those (to include a VW Bus on a couple of them).
Speaking of which: someone thought it would be a good idea to drive a VW station wagon down the White Rim despite the "High Clearance 4x4 Vehicles STRONGLY RECOMMENDED" signs at the start. We ran into oil spray on rocks about 20 miles into the trail shortly followed by a black VW station wagon stranded on the side of the road. Joneseyyy offered help, but it was apparently refused. :shrug:

That is actually an old hydro-electric power plant and those are Bridal Veil Falls.

Some people aren't too smart. I once encountered a Subaru sedan that had towed a pop-up camper several miles down an unlisted back country trail. They were stuck of course and also refused help. I warned them that not too many people take this trail and I was going out the other side and wasn't coming back this way. They seemed unconcerned.
