FJ Summit 2014 or... ?

I spent a week in glacier a few years ago with my family. Did lots of hiking and fly fishing! It's a really awesome place and I'd love to go back. I'll keep an eye on the dates for the trip and will join if I can fit it into my schedule!

This! I spent 2 lovely weeks out there in 2011, but it was very much policed for even overnight backcountry camping. Off-roading is a huge no-no in the park. Not sure what is around the park that is rideable, though. The other thing to consider is the very short summer that far north. Going to the Sun road doesn't even open until Jul most years.

The intent isn't to do any offroading in the park itself, but rather along the way and in the surrounding areas. Whitefish, MT has some trails based on some cursory research.
 
Looking at it a bit more, the Rubicon seems like a better trip. It would be a challenging trail, and the scenery up there is great. I haven't spent any appreciable time in Lake Tahoe either, and my (soon-to-be) brother-in-law was a ski instructor up there for years, so I'm guessing he's got some good tips.

I will have to keep an eye on this thread, I do not have any good mods yet and will likely not by this trip but living in the Sacramento area it could at least be fun to venture up that way and meet up. My Brother says some of the area is not to bad in the beginning of the trail. Plus just the meet and greet would be fun for sure!
 
Our pencil has a big eraser but if we go it would be mid / late Aug so don't wait on me.

Some of the harder stuff also have not so hard bypasses but it all still looks..umm...interesting.

Actually mid to late August works good for me as I can only get the FJSummit week off in July but August is wide open. My oldest daughter has cheerleader camp in August but she's doesn't need/want to go.

Yosemite is right next to there and plenty of trails in the area to explore.
Let me know when you can get something in INK Dave!

Sorry been busy the last few days and not really using the computer, feel like I've missed so much.

I'm in the middle of planning the summer now, which is filling up with this new married life thing, but get me some dates and I will do what I can.

I would change it in a heartbeat if I could....not that I have a big enough rep that I couldn't just start over.
 
GNP is way far from Texas, as is Yosemite. Anything closer for the east coast guys that would still be fun with plenty of off-road activity? I guess what we need is a C130 transport to swing by and pick us up and then do a drop of say in Salt Lake City. Then, we could really do some good stuff in a week to ten days. Then fly us all back to our respective homes. Sound good?
 
Go way north and meet up with Intruder! I've always wanted to do Alaska, but that'll have to wait till the kiddos grow up a bit. Until then, I'll live vicariously through you guys! :cry2:

I didn't get the whole month of July off for vacation like the past 10 years as I got moved back to the RR gear box shop here at work and 2 other guys with more senority then me took their VC the first 2 weeks of July.
I did get the 3rd week of July which is the FJ Summit week off , 2nd two weeks in June and the spring break week off in March. I floated my last week so can move it to whenever others are'nt off or add it to the other weeks if available.

i would be ready to run the rubicon again this summer! it would awesome having more similar vehicles with me. everytime ive done it i was always the newest vehicle
