flipping tires around

I have a Sport Edition and dislike the whitewalls. Would it harm anything if I flipped the tires around to reveal the black side. Would the tread pattern then be unfavorable?

You can flip the tires around without any appreciable wear difference in the tires providing that you follow the correct pattern for rotation.

Make sure when you dismount the tires, you flip left to right (not front to back or diagonal) and rebalance. Make sure that the tread wear on the front tires are approximately the same on both the left and right prior to switching or you will have steering issues.

Are you saying I need to switch the front left tire to the front right, and the rear left to the rear right? I only have 150 miles on my 4Runner. Thanks for your help.

Just flip them around, no problem with modern radial tires. The only tires that would be a concern would be high performance one directional tires. We don't have them on 4runners.

flipping tires

yes... Since you are reversing the white letters to be on the inside of the tire, you should unmount the left front tire with the white letters on the outside and remount the tire on the same rim with the white letters on the inside. This is now your right front tire. Repeat for all other tires.

You are correct that this may not be necessary, especially with the low mileage, but it puts less stress on the steel belts in the tires and follows the recommended rotation pattern by the manufacturer (Michelin, Bridgestone, Dunlop, Goodyear).

Correct.
