Hey guys, I was wondering what muffler will do best for my 4Runner. Magnaflow or Flowmaster? I just want the one that's not too loud and not too quiet.... so probably a moderate sound?

:thanks:

I have a Flo-Pro seamless muffler with dual tail pipes out the back. It sounds great and looks great with twin chrome exhaust tips on each side.

Im wondering the same thing...want something not stock sounding but not overwelming...Magnaflow seems to offer more towards that clientele.

There are a few different Flowmaster Mufflers. 40 series 44 series, 50 series, etc. 50-series SUV is suppose to be quieter and less cabin resonance, I have a 4th gen with a 4.7 and got my 50-series SUV muffler in the mail yesterday. Will have it put on in a few days (maybe early next week) and I will post a video of it. I know the 3rd gen V6 sounds much different so sorry if it wont help

I have a flowmaster 50 series big block on my 6.2 denali and it sounds good but the muffler is huge. I have also had the 40 series delta flow on a v-6 gmc and it was way loud. then i had a 60 series delta flow on a ford ranger v-6 and was very loud too but not as loud as the 40.

Flowmaster is way too loud for a 4runner-IMO
i think the magnaflow exhaust is the better one to go with. i know some one who runs the magnaflow on a honda ridgeline and it sounds the way it should.:thumb3:

I def love my 14" Magnaflow Xl, but at times it's too damn loud.
Gonna buy a 18" universal and see how I like it.
Either way it sounds awesome. Nice and throaty. Sounds great for a V6.

Can't talk for 3rd Gens but I have a flowmaster Super 44 and it sounds mean! I will probably get a magnaflow here next just because its getting a little loud in the cabin for me. Plus MF gives a lifetime warranty and flowmaster is only a 1 year warranty because they have been known to break up inside sometimes. I dont know specifics on the problems they've had, thats just what i have been told.

This thread is worthless without videos! Opinions of loud and good tone will vary greatly. I hate the sound of a ricer with a fart can but love the rumble of an STI and R32. I also enjoy the nice roar of a big v8 with cut outs. This engine seems very hard to make a good exhaust sound good. I've had both Magnaflow and Flowmaster, the Magnaflow sounds better on 4, 6 and 8 cyl engines hands down.

I'm looking for the same sound as described, louder than stock but not obnoxious. Let's here some videos!

That's my Cherrybomb Vortex. Probably too loud for you.

I have a 14" Magnaflow on mie right now. I love it, but it it's pretty loud. Had both a Magnaflow 18" and a Flowmaster 40 on my Tacoma. Both had their pluses and minuses, but I would say that for what you are looking for, the 18" Magnaflow would be the best fit out of the three.

I would also go with the 18" magnaflow. I have it on my 4runner it sounds great and is not loud but mine is dumped and I would not recommend that at all. There is a lot of drone inside when I am on the freeway
