FML! Injector on Cylinder 5 is spewing fuel!!

After driving the truck for 2 days, and constantly smelling fuel when turning it off, and standing outside, I've found that the Injector on Cylinder 5 is now leaking fuel!!!!

I've decided to contact the seller, and request a full refund for these injectors, as I have only kept 1 out of his 5 installed on my truck, and now have to remove the last one! I'm freakin ticked off right now!

Here is the message I left him via E-bay:

Good day,

I have taken apart the upper portion of the engine on Saturday, and removed 5 out of the 6 injectors you sold, leaving 5 of my old ones in their spots. After driving it for 2 days, I have found that the 1 injector I left behind, purchased by you, is now leaking fuel from the rubber O-ring.

I am going to have to take this engine apart, a third time, and replace that injector, thus leaving me with 0 of your injectors installed on my truck. I would like to simply send you all 6 of your injectors, as I plan on purchasing 1 fuel injector locally to complete this work. I'm really sorry for this, but I cannot take the chance of having to take this engine apart a 4th time if you end up sending me more injectors that have issues with them.

If you could refund the purchase price + shipping to my door and also the cost of my shipping them back to you, it would be greatly appreciated. Please note, I have not left any negative feedback regarding my purchase on E-bay, and would greatly appreciate it if you would please help me to resolve this matter in manner I have requested.

man. I know I haven't posted on it, but I've been following your issues. This is some BS(you should post it in the BS thread too ). I don't really have any advice for you but I do have a question.
How long does it take you to get to the injectors now? I'm betting you could join a pit crew.

On the bright side you could set up shop changing 4runner injectors now that you have so much practice.

HA HA! I'm really hoping he works with me on this....but I'm not going to hold my breath. The bright side of things, I should be able to just purchase some new 0-rings locally for just a few bucks, and I'll be rolling again...but man...this thing's been taken apart twice already.....gonna be 3!

Asking for a refund on the shipping charges delivered to you and, sending them back to him is a bit unreasonable. He didn't ask for the injectors back. Feel lucky if, and that's a big if, he refunds you back the injector money. He can just tell you to sit and screw for all he cares. He's not losing sleep over 1 bad feedack from a disgruntled fella.

Although, it would prompt a craigslist ad with his name and number for a free washer and dryer. Just sayin.

I agree. Just because people don't have a return policy doesn't mean ebay and PayPal can't make someone refund.

It's kind of like having a prenup. Sure, you can make her sign it on the wedding day, but years later it will mean nothing.

I didn't read any of your old problems with this, but how are you putting the injectors in?

Are you making sure to spin them in to avoid pinching the ring?

I was not spinning them in, thought all I had to do was lube them with Vaseline ...... I'll have to make sure I do that this time.

I read that....but that shouldn't give him free reign to sell us crappy products. I'm not going to take a chance that he sends me more crap...next time I'm buying OEM.

I hated to see this post come up.

I helped a friend put in a new Beck Arnley injector in October of last year in his T100; I think his truck uses the same injectors as the 4runners. It cost him $83 I think with a one year warranty. No problems either. If you want, I can see if he still has the receipt with the part number on it so you could troll the internet for one.

Good luck getting the money out of the guy. Who is to say that the seller's new ones would be any better than the crap he sent you the first time. I guess we will know courtesy of Hondafmx1000.

If the only fault in the product is a leaky o-ring that would be considered an installation error (pinched/ripped ring, is common on installs with Toyota's if patience is not above par)

I'll have a tech inspect and flow/leak test upon arrival - if they leak you get your request. If they don't we will charge a 10% restock fee for damaged o-rings and you will cover shipping. If all is as you said then we have no issue returning your money! (sad that we have to work this way, but the integrity of others is not always 100%.) Thanks for understanding! What would you do?

Make sure you didn't mess up the o-ring. And then return them if you did not. If they are junk, and the guy scams you and charges you 10% (lies to you), at least you get some of your money back.

Sometimes, you have to sit on the ole pole. I think this is one of those times, any way you go about it.

I'm not sure if you realize, but I'm going to be out $220.00 by sending you the old ones.....only to hope that your tech finds the mechanical error in these. My concern is, if he (or another tech) did not notice the slow leak before, who is to say he will this time? I can't afford to be out this money, or out of my vehicle of an extended period of time, as it's my daily driver.

If it's the o'rings, I wouldn't have had the hard start issue in the 1st place. The O-ring leaking on Cylinder 5 could very well be an installation issue. But when I had all 6 installed in the truck, none of them were leaking externally, and the hard starts persisted.

If I were to be dishonest about returning you the injectors, after you refunded my money, couldn't you simply go through paypal to get your money back? That is why we use paypal right?

I'm not trying to be disrespectful, I'm just trying to help you see my point of view. Why should I spend more money to send you back your product, if I'm already out $190.00 in the first place?

I hope you understand my dilemma, as I really can't afford to throw more money at this problem. I've been working on this fuel injector issue since early December (not your fault, but a fact), and have spent upwards of $400.00 replacing spark plugs (2 sets), spark plug wires, 1 coil pack, and purchasing your fuel injectors. I honestly need this resolved quickly, so that I'm can just go to the part store and simply replace your fuel injector with a new one. I assure you that once the funds are refunded, and I am able to install the injector, your injectors will be shipped immediately.

Honestly? I think so in some regards. He isn't in the credit business. I think you have to go get a new injector, install it, send them all back and then see what he says. So you paid $200- 10% restock fee (if he penetrates you) - $20 in shipping (guessing its high up there) = $160. Still not bad, considering he could tell you to eff yourself, then you would have to go through PayPal. And then you could still be stuck with 6 worthless (to you) injectors.

If he doesn't charge you the 10%, you wasted a great deal of your time, but got 90% of your $ back. Worse case scenario is that you get 80% back and are done with the situation, with a working truck.

If you have cash flow problems (know you just got laid off) then this may be easier said than done.

But that is what I would do. I would have a running vehicle again and then deal with this guy at my convenience (and be able to run to the store and get some beer in a working vehicle when dealing with him ).

It looks like the situation is going to be a dogs breakfast. Make the best of it.

That is my opinion.
