haha... I didn't say we're going to do it tomorrow, but eventually. I'm going to set a goal of by the end of next year. I think that's doable. in 12 months time we will conquer that trail

when you get to the entrance you will **** yourself but thats not the hard part. You will come out with damage. running drivelines over rocks, using your t-case cross member as a teter toter, rolling beads galore, roll overs, not to be an ass but your rigs are not setup for that trail. It will piss you off more than you enjoy it, i promise. Guy we were with had a CJ with staun beadlocks, well they didnt hold and he popped a bead, rolled over on his top less than a foot from a cliff on the exit. If you do decide to do it and things go wrong i have some friends down there i can call to come save you. Ill message you my number.

NO! No! No! I think you missed the joke. We have no real desire to do this until out rigs are built FAR beyond what they are now. We are looking for harder trails, yes. True Carnage? No!

Probably our last trip until November. Someone has to go play soldier in Alabama of all places. We went back to Rainbow Falls for 2 main reasons. #1 was to do some mild trail running with our better halves and #2 was to get the following videos.



It helps to lock your hubs when you need 4WD.



While I did make it all the way up, it wasn't pretty. I did make a 2nd run at it after I reached the top that was prettier.

This all resulted in some minor carnage to the Minnow.

Spun my driveshaft on some rock.

Busted my tailpipe mount. I really need to reposition my exhaust.

Then we just headed ou t enjoy the beauty that is Colorado.

SVD's new toy had us aired up in a matter of 10 minutes for 8 tires.

All and all, another beautiful day in Colorado!

You guys have so much fun out there! If I may suggest, when trying obstacles like that Moab Hill in your video, try getting a bit more of an offset so you're not hitting both tires at the same time. Not too much, mind you--don't want to tip it back, but just enough so you start one tire up at a time. I'm sure the dirt coating on the rocks wasn't helping in your search for traction. Love that Colorado scenery!

One other thing: although it's not as likely to be a problem with power steering, I noticed you (Bill) drive with your hand inside the steering wheel rim--BAD IDEA. You need to get used to driving with your hands outside the wheel, with your thumbs pointed out as well--you never know when a tire may grab a rock and jerk the wheel on you. Just a friendly tip...

It kills me that we had a hard time today with that hill. Last time we went up there I flew right up it. That dry dirt makes for some interesting wheeling. We had to stack rocks to get traction. That dirt killed us today.

Even my runner with no lockers breezed up that obstacle without any issue a couple weeks ago. FoG's runner should have made it look easy with his rear locker. We both made it up but like he said, it wasn't pretty.

But as FoG said, another beautiful day in Colorado! :banana:

Snow wheeling!!!

Hit the trails yesterday and today. I have a video from yesterday but my friend has it on private so I'll post it soon.

This was on Saran Wrap and Eagle Rock. This was my first time wheeling in the snow and what a world of difference it is! I definitely learned a lot and still have a lot to learn.

Kinda' fun being able to go wherever you point your truck, huh--even multiple snow-covered 2' ledges! Did you air down at all? The tires don't seem to be squishing much. I like the pics of you parked tail-high on the rocks (I stole a couple--hehe). Good to see her being enjoyed on the trails!

I aired down to 15 psi. This 4runner definitely proved itself this weekend. I put a nice scar on the front right of the ARB bumper trying to go through this:


This is a tight little area in Woodland Park called butthole rock. You only have a couple of inches on each side of the vehicle when going through it. You have one line and ONLY one line when going through it. If you slide a couple inches to the right you hit your bumper, if you slide to the left you're losing your driver side windows. I wasn't able to get up it though. The snow kicked my butt on that obstacle.

I also dinged up the right side slider today in the snow. It was on Saran Wrap and on an off camber area. The 4runner slid down in the snow and I couldn't hold the right line and kept sliding down into a rock. That poor slider got smacked probably 3-4 times pretty hard. It held up though and just needs some paint on a 4-5 inch area.

Overall, I am very impressed with what this thing can do! I'm looking at buying a set of 37" pitbull rockers from a buddy so that will definitely make a huge difference. That means I'll have to get some 17" wheels though so I may look at some aluminum beadlocks when I get back from school. I am also throwing the idea around of some full with D60's. This 4runner is very stable but the body lift is deceiving and makes it feel like it's leaning more than it really is so I really need to get used to that.

We came around the corner and saw you guys stacked on the overlook rocks, looked pretty cool! Did you guys happen to see the cherokee that blew his tranny down oldstage on your way out? He looked pretty screwed to us but said he had it handled... And FoG, let me know when you get the tires. I'm sure we can find a trail you havent hit yet.. Like I said I really want to run independance again.. But maybe wait for warmer weather for that one. Hacket would be a decent simple day run, and prob not super busy this time of year..

It was awesome running into you at the top of Eagle Rock. We'll have to hit up some trails together when I get back. We need to get a couple more guys in our wheeling group so there are always a few people willing to go wheeling at any given time. When I can, I try to go at least every other weekend... sometimes every weekend if I can. Next year will definitely be a good year for wheeling, FoG and I have some good plans for our 4runners early next year!
