Fog light connection bad

I noticed the fog light on the passenger side was out on my '05 SR5, so I thought this an opportunity to upgrade the bulbs to a brighter bulb. I replaced the bulbs, and the lamp did not come on. I wiggled the wires going into the plug and the lamp came on, only to go out when I moved the wires when placing it back in the housing.

I haven't any room up in there to get both hands in while lying on my back, so it's a ***** to work on.

Is there a way of tightening the wires that go into the plug, or pulling the wires, cutting them back and reattaching them? Or is this a trip to the dealer where they will want to replace the entire wiring harness no doubt. I see where various sites have sockets for the 9006 bulb, but the illustrations don't look as though it would fit into the fog light housing.

You can try and spray wd40 into the plug to remove any moisture that might be inthere or try some dielectric grease

I pulled the bulb from the socket and some of the plastic inside that surrounds the brass connector is broken. I blasted it with electronic cleaner, scraped it as much as possible with a knife and reinserted the bulb. It's working now, but that bulb socket needs to be replaced. The problem is there is little room and not much slack in the wire leading to the harness. Maybe if I drop that portion of the inner fender? But then I would need a good weatherproof connector...

drivers side or passenger side?
here are new terminals, seals and case I'm sure you can get them at the auto parts store

If you pop out the passenger side headlight you should have plenty of room to get in there to replace the connector

So, the lead to the fog light connects near the headlight? Is it a plugin connector?

yeah, it gets tied into the set of wires that also go to the washer fluid pumps if you pop the hood and look at where the washer fluid hoses run into the engine bay you will see a loom of wires and and about 6" after it goes under the head light the fog light circuit splits from the loom and has about a 6-8" of wire before the connector
