fog light -> headlight concerns

Harper, how is the output of the HIDs in the factory foglights? I'm trying to decide whether to go that route or retrofit some is300 or blazer foglight projectors in there. Thanks

The output from the HID's in the oem fogs is bright but scattered and has some glare.Not a very crisp cut off at all.
I have an extra set of oem fogs that I'm working on to put the blazer retrofit projectors in with 5k HID's.Fog Light: Blazers - HID Projectors from The Retrofit Source Inc
Got the Blazer kit and opened up the oem fog lens. But hav'nt cut/dremmeled them for the new projectors yet. Maybe next week end if it cools off ,as I was busy changing out my leather seat covers for cloth last weekend.....in the AC.It's just has silicone sealant(black RTV) holding the lens on.You just have to work it carefully around the edges with an exact knife. I'll take some pics when I put them together.

I know you guys are talking about a full relay mod, but on my Xterra we were able to accomplish a simlar change for the fog light on when low or high beam on by just moving one of the switch wires from the low beam wire to parking light wire. Can a similar mod be done to the 5G?

This still looks like more work than it should be. Antman, nice work! Since I only have had my 4R 1 week, I'm going to dig a little more and review the wiring diagram. We should be able to snip the brown wire and connect it to the hot side of the light switch. but maybe I'm missing something.

I know this is old but I have been looking for something like this to modify my fog lights. You two guys are very smart and talented that have accomplished this. Now, does anyone know how to make the air recirculation switch totally manual or more manual so that it does not switch off and on?

The recirc button goes back to open after 3 minutes if it's cooler outside than it is inside.

If you turn it on and then hold the recirc button for 5 seconds or so it will stay on recirc until you turn the vehicle off.

Thanks Antman,

I have done this and it works. I think on the newer ones and on Tacomas this is one of the custom features one can have programed at a dealership so I guess Toyota is listening. I just want to be in full control of the recirculating air system. If I drive by a dairy farm or a huge feed lot I want the thing off until I am ready to have it on again whether I have turned the ignition off.

If it is controlled by a temperature detecting system then it would revert to full manual if the sensor was out, correct?
