Fog light modding

Mind sharing where you bolted the lights to and how you made the holes look that professionally done? :hatsoff:

Directly above is the bumper bracket i used to attach the Hella mount to. see pic below. as for the hole, i used a hole saw that's slightly larger in diameter than the Hella's, this is important for maneuvering and proper aiming. used an abs pipe for the light housing to give the valance some depth..............took it to the paint shop and they did the rest.
These are HID's not the regular H3's. They're wired independently, so i can have 'em on with or without the headlights or the park lights using Toyota OEM switch.

I wanted extra lights for a while now but didn't want to drill it on the top of the bumper. Your idea is so much better since it looks completely OEM. I think I might give this a try. :thumb3:

You could probably use a "port" from a sub box to do a pretty clean install with out having to paint the bumper after.

Just use that to finish off the cut in the bumper and add the depth you want. I was thinking of doing this in my 2000 to really upgrade the factory fogs w/ something much larger and brighter.

Those port tubes would've been a great idea since it has the lip to cleanly cover the holes however, the placement of the port tubes on the valance will be at an angle as the lip will sit against the surface, indicated in sample illustration 1, thus throwing the light output in an outward direction.

proper alignment is obviously indicated in sample illustration 2, the light output is perpendicular in relation to the blue line. In reality we have a properly aimed light. Capiche?

Just means you have to cut the bottom side of the tube to angle the tube on the lip. The cut would be pretty much invisible. The other option would be to let the tube protrude slightly on the one side and filling it in. That may not look bad depending on the amount of curve the bumper has.

nah thought about it, too expensive for my budget, all in all the lights cost 20 dollars walmart, installation 40 bucks and new yellow bulbs 15 bucks grand total 75 dollars compared to about 400+ for the lower valance and any other costs.

yeah that's about how much I spent for mine..$300 for the Hella Xenons and $40 for painting. One and only..

Look for a Limited front valence from a 96-98 4Runner. Dealer installed option to have fog lights installed where you see them in this picture. I'm assuming this is the look you are going for?

Yeah i think those look cool,I want to install lights just like that. Do you know how?
