Fog lights.

Im trying to figure out how to get the fog lights to work independent of the headlights 2019 4runner. Never seen a vehicle that didn't let you just run the fog lights.

5th gen's is "Intelligently" controlled by the body control module so you need to add a separate relay because the BCM always knows when the high beams (or low beams) come on/off.

For mine I added a AOB switch and separate relay to bypass the OEM fog light control entirely (this way it also lights up when they are turned on). I already have a switched 12v auxiliary fuse block under the dash so the whole job took <15 minutes

Be aware VA law requires that fog lights be connected to low beam headlights and only operable if low beams on. You could have an inspection problem depending on how you do such a mod.

where did you get the switch and what all was done in the process?

The switch was ordered direct from AoB.

The super short version: cut the wire coming out of the BCM that goes to the fog lights (the other threads show the wiring diagram); cover/secure the end that goes to the BCM, and connect the down stream side to the output from a 4/5 pin relay of your choice. +12v comes from a distribution block I have installed under the dash along the firewall, the relay is grounded to a bolt under the dash.

Switch wiring follows any of the regularly available diagrams on the forums (or what comes with the switch).

This allows fog control based on switched 12v power, regardless of headlight control (off, parking lights, low beams, high beams, etc)

So did you follow antmans direction but you added a extra switch can you explain more in detail
is this the white wire with silver dots or are you talking about the brown and black wire that hooks under steering wheel that plugs in

Correct, also, instead of T-ing into the white w/ silver tracer wire (fog activation from the BCM), I cut the wire to prevent any back feeding of power into the BCM. Also, I have the activation for my relay on the +12v switched side not the ground side, not that it really matters.
