Folks that slam doors

Yup...very annoying. I have to get out everytime someone wants to open the rear hatch, just so I can have peace of mind of me letting the electronic closer do it's job instead of them slamming the hatch shut.

It also annoys me when people slide off the seat when they get out of the car. My leather starts showing wear and wrinkles because it keeps getting stretched out when people slide off the seat.

That damn thing is so heavy people feel like they have to slam it, including me sometimes. No one knows that the thing has automatic close, so it gets slammed constantly.

dingo, I agree with everything you said. In addition, I hate when passengers hit the window or door trim with the seat belt when they get out (making that nasty cling sound) or when passengers bring food or drink into my truck.

:iagree: with all of you. Essentially, I only like myself in my truck and no one else. Everyone that rides in it has these bad habits that lowers my resale values, even though I plan on driving it into the ground.

Yeah my wife and I go round and round sometimes about the vehicles. She used to open her Acura's door into my Ram in the garage. NOTHING pisses me off than someone door dinging my vehicles. I kept telling her, for fuck's sake, if you need the door open that much, put your hand between the vehicles so it cushions it!!! I then even showed her a whole section of the truck bed FULL of little dings, probably 50 of them in a 1' strip, where she had been resting her door. She kept saying shey just barely opens it up, lets it rest there, then gets out. I told her she does not understand that when you are getting in and out, the car moves, and it grinds and bumps against the other car. Of course the obligatory eye roll, sigh, and "whatever". She kept doing it for a while, until some douchebag in a Toyota Taco planted his front bumper right in the side of my truck, in the exact spot she used for a doorstop. Once the bedside was replaced, I showed her what it looked like all new, with no dings. And after the first day she came home, pulled her little habit, I walked her out and showed her. She now does like I do, and puts her hand around the edge of the door, to keep it from hitting my truck. Havent seen a door ding since from her. Now from OTHER assholes in parking lots, that's a different story......


Oh oh, and another thing she did that pissed me off, taking all the shit out of the car, purse, keys, big ass thermal cup, kids toys, etc, and chucking them on the roof of the car!!!!!! Then she'd drag the shit off, scratching the paint more EVERY DAY!!

And she's eaten chocolate Hershey Kisses or some shit in my truck before, and friggin dropped one between the seats, and it melted into the cloth between the seats. And let one melt in the center console all over my CD's and pens and such.




That makes me believe, after thinking about all this, that women should NOT be allowed to drive nice vehicles...... :bash:

My wife has this weird habit of somehow twisting the seatbelt so that when it retracts it's folded over and gets jammed. Drives me nuts. I don't even know how she does it, I've tried doing it on purpose and can't.

At least she's finally learned how the presets work. One time all the buttons on my radio were set to the same station.

How about the opposite of slamming doors, people who don't close them hard enough and they're not closed all the way?

I'm with you guys, I cant stand when people slam my doors. I'll even say to someone not to slam the door when they are getting in, and they still do.

I'm really picky about my 4Runner and even more so with my truck. I still have the passanger side airbag tag sticking out of the dash on the truck and my one friend will grab it and start to tug on it just to piss me off, he is also one of the ones I have to yell at to not slam my door, and still always does.

I have _MANY_ issues with what passangers tend to do that piss me off, but that list is to long for me to type.

Wow and I thought I was the only ANAL one here when it comes to TLC for my cars! lol

Here's like an overview of things that I HATE when there are other passengers in my car that don't care....

1. door slamming (obviously since this is the topic at hand)
2. careless entry and exit, shoes hit the sidings and cause scratches and permanent marks on my sidings
3. Seatbelt buckles getting stuck in between the door and frame, causing the scratch (like Dingo said)
4. People carelessly taking off their seatbelts, causing the buckle to fly into the passenger window (happened in my ody once, the person scratched my front tint!)
5. People constantly changing seat positions. ANNOYING!
6. People putting one feet under their legs, sitting nice and comfy, AHEM EXCUSE ME, your shoes are either 1. gonna mark on my seats (cuz it's cloth) and 2. scratch or mark my sidings
7. People slamming my sun visors after using it.
8. PEOPLE EATING IN MY CAR
9. People openning my windows for soo long, letting the cold air (and new car smell still in my case lol) OUT OF THE CAR
10. People getting pissed at all my rules for my cars!

that's just an overview. There's more but I don't feel like typing it all up. lol. :beer:

I also cleaned my truck and my husband's truck everyday through love bug season, because I know it will ruin the paint. Anyway back to the point, I hate when people are inconsiderate and ding your door. I aways park my car in BFE in parking lots and avoid minivans(childern love touching other people vehicles for some unknown reason) and large two door cars.

I think I've pissed my wife off enough over the years bitching at her for door dings, putting crap on the roof, slamming doors, leaning on the paint, etc, that she's finally just given in to shut me up more than anything. I dont get on to her as much as I really want to, because if she knew how much it really bothers me I'd probably make her cry LOL. So I just push it enough to get my point across, knowing I'll have to do it again, and again, until I slowly grate on her enough to change her habits, like water slowly carving a rock. :

I KNOW that I'm incredibly anal about my vehicles and so does everyone else that knows me. I'm not afraid to let you know when your F'in up my ride. If you don't like it, get the F out of my vehicle! It's that simple.

The one thing that I don't agree with, is the whole 'people must slam foreign car doors, due to them owning domestics' theory. IMHO that's complete and utter BS and its simply a lack of common descency of respecting other peoples property. Nothing more.

I own a 1500 Ram, Formula Firebird and a Jeep (in this case the Jeeps door doesn't count as their SO light). However, the Ram and Formula have VERY large/heavy doors and I've NEVER ONCE had to slam them to close them. They close just as easily as the 4Runner's doors do.

Both my Rams, the 96 race truck, and my 2000 daily driver, require a bit more impact to close than my 4Runner. So I do occasionally find myself shutting the 4Runner's door harder than I need to sometimes, since I drive the truck most of the time. The 4Runner is the mommy mobile and I dont get to drive it much lol.

That was a prticularly odd design on Toyota's part. Nice idea... no need to slam hatch cuz it seals itelf, but like you say the thing is so heavy that it's pointless. I liek the Merc. ML's rear hatch... push a button and it closes itself.

Luckily I've caught everyone who tried to do it, but it still annoys me. Even people leaning against the car with jeans on often leave nice rivet scratches on the paint.

After reading this topic, I noticed a difference between the doors on the GX470 and 4Runner. When I close the doors on the GX470, I use the same force that I use to close the doors on my 4Runner. The doors on the GX470 never close for me on the first try. They must be air sealed or much heavier than the doors on the 4Runner. I really have to apply a lot of force to close the doors on the GX. I honestly wouldn't close the doors on my 4Runner that hard!

I parked next to a mercedez benz today at the home depot and I got back to find that the merc wasn't their.

In its place apparenly the handle of a rouge rolling cart made contact with my truck and created a scratch between the drivers side door and rear drivers side door.

I was angry to say the least.
