Where did you get your tube doors?

Also, would it be reasonable to use your runner year round by re-installing the doors for winter use?

I'm wishing I didn't have my doors on right now in the smoking hot weather we are enjoying up here in the rainy PNW.

I'd like to just take them off for a day....... You know.....like a sideways convertible.:lookout:

Depending if you have power windows and stuff, it would be a huge pain in the ass. But if you dont have power taking them on and off is only like 4 bolts a door and then putting the other ones on.

I would rather just the AC as i daily drive my 4runner and dont want to deal with taking doors off.

Sounds like it would suck for me. I have power widows and locks....

You can unplug the windows and locks from the door and stash the wire harness away. OR... If you are good with wiring you can cut the wires and put them on a plug so you can unplug the harness from the body of the runner.

I was kinda thinking about that........hmmmm......maybe even leave the tube doors off.....

I run half doors summer and stock ones winter.
I put connectors on the widow wiring so they just unplugged, and modified the hinges to make them easier to remove .

I have been running doorless for a while now. At first I wanted tube or half doors for the protection but I feel pretty good not having anything there. I don't have any power going to my doors so I don't have to worry about and wires.

You can even do something like this and eliminate the wires

I modified the stock doors so that the power windows still function, but not the power locks. Fairly easy to do.

I will run the tubes most of the year and put the stocks back on for winter. I did modify the hinges for quick switch of the two. 4xinnovations sells a quick release door hinge as well.

For the wiring, why not install those "hotrodder" style electrical connectors--they terminate inside the door jamb, and everything is functional as soon as the door shuts. No need to disconnect anything--the full door is the other side of the connector, with contacts built into the hinge side.

See the build thread! I started door changes on page 6. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/classic-t4rs/107795-s-s-minnow-build-thread-6.html. Originally I was planning half doors, but ended up with the 4xInnovations tube doors. Tube doors cost $385 vs the hours of mindless sanding and fiberglass to make the half doors. To be honest, I suck at any kind of body work and I don't weld so I have to make do with the tools God and Craftsman gave me. I painted the doors with Rustoleum self etching primer and Hammered black paint. Holds up great and if I get scratch I just touch up. I think it is important tp paint the door jambs to match the doors. It didn't look right otherwise.
