For anyone waiting on a 17

Can we keep this on topic regarding 'waiting for a '17' instead of it turning into another KDSS fanboy/girl debacle?

This issue came up due to long wait times for the '17 TRD Pro, and someone considering the ramifications of converting a '17 Off Road into one. Not sure how that's not relevant to the thread, but whatever...

I don't get why you guys are acting surprised/mad. If you don't like the price, don't buy it. Someone else will, I promise.

Dealer mark ups have been around forever, and they are free to charge whatever they think they can sell it at for a profit. A 5/10K markup is nothing.

I've seen everything from a $200K markup for a F82 M4 GTS...to a 10K markup on a Hyundai Veloster Turbo. A Hyundai. Veloster.

There are PLENTY of dealers who have a a policy where they won't charge anything over MSRP. Trust me, call around and you'll find that out real quick.

There are lots of people with more money than they know what to responsibly do with it. They see it, they want it, they buy it. They don't have the time/patience to scour the nation to save a few bucks (to them). It's those that are going to buy those marked up ones. Do your homework, do your research and buy what you feel comfortable paying for.

Wow, an intelligent response to this thread. This is the US, it's a free market and the dealers can charge what they want(newsflash, new raptors always go for over MSRP, same thing for hellcats, etc). So no sense in complaining about it, simple supply and demand and the fact you will always have someone who will want to be the first one on the street with the newest latest and greatest(and willing to pay a premium for that). I am willing to bet that those dealers will not end up selling for nearly that much over sticker, remember a dealer's job is to ask a high price and then a savy consumer will or should always negotiate that price down.

For $10k markup...
Couldn't anyone buy ALL the accessories, struts, springs, wheels, lift kit, badges, etc,etc, and use many other after market parts mods...
And STILL save money ??
May even have a real head turner, more so than a 'from the factory stocker' TRD like someone else has right around the corner ???

the paint color is what did it for me, black,silver, grey were all boring to me. Quite frankly seeing the cement color in person is what made me pull the trigger on a 4runner(this will be my 12th yota). So by the time I added all the aftermarket stuff and painted the truck, it actually made way more sense to get the TRD pro ready to go in the Unique color(probably won't see another one around where I live).

I agree, It's mildly amusing to see how it always turns to that. I personally loved my 1985 Extra Cab Toy with Manual locking hubs, 22RE, open diffs, as it actually made me learn how to wheel with the truck and not rely, on Atrac, KDSS, electric lockers, center locking diffs, etc. Just a transfer case lever, 4lo locking the front hubs and figure it out rather than let the ECM/PCM modulate throttle, apply brakes, pull timing, etc.

Is that a technical term?

The only reason it is what it is is because Toyota's marketing folks decided so. If what you were saying were true, every KDSS-equipped vehicle that had been lifted or had shocks changed out would have a problem. What they 'offer from the factory' is not in any way relevant in this case, except perhaps for the fact that the asymmetrical front TRD shocks aren't 'perfect' for KDSS vehicles. But that can be easily dealt with in several different ways, especially if one is aware of the issue in advance.

I added to my original post And of course you can search my name and you'll find all the detailed information as to why KDSS is a street system. But let's change topics before the Nazi forum people shut us down. Real quick KDSS cylinders are the limiting factor , putting a lift kit on with KDSS is like putting a lift kit on keeping the stock shocks the KDSS cylinders are the limiting factor. Also increased stroke over heats the KDSS cylinders the oil starts to foam and the sway bars lose their effectiveness this is why the this system was never offered On the FJ or TRD but it is on the mall cruiser Lexus. Toyota is not stupid they don't combine these options for a reason.
