For California residents - Much difference in registration between 2019 and new?

We have residences in California and Montana. 4 of our 5 vehicles are registered in Montana. The 5th is a 2005 Honda Accord that I use to go 3 miles to the train station where I take the train into LA for work, when I’m down there. Employer pays for the train.

In Montana, for cars older than 10 years you pay a one-time registration fee of like $200 and you are done, no further annual registration fees.

Holy cow! Almost 2 years ago, I paid $240 for my 2019 - for 2 years. Curious to see what it'll be like later this year when I renew...

No so where I live (Utah). Utah has a surcharge for hybrids and EVs to make up for the missing fuel tax collected.

2021 TRD Pro (CA) reg this year is just under $500. It was above $500 prior years.
