Just upgraded to a Tundra, so I am selling my beloved 3rd Gen 5-speed 4x4 - desert dune pearl w/ power sunroof and tan interior. I have owned this 4Runner since new, and put about 265K on it and maintaining it as a daily driver. If you've only driven automatics, the difference in power delivery and control is night and day.
Current PA inspection until 12/16. Local buyers only. The vehicle is located in West Chester, PA. Here's the run down--no sugar added:
Current mods:
OME Nitrocharger Heavy Kit - 3in lift (good set up for ARB or other bull bar)
SPC Adjustable UCAs
Throttle body restrictor plate mod
K&N Air Filter
OEM Part Replacements:
Stock LCAs replaced 1 year ago
CV joints replaced 1 year ago
Cats replaced several years ago. No cat codes.
OEM steering rack replaced last summer
Cat-back exhaust replaced 1 year ago
Emergency Brake system replaced a few months ago--amazing hold on hills.
Timing belt and water pump replaced last summer
New NGK spark plugs + wires
newer battery purchased on 2/16
OEM floor mats replaced a few months ago.
This truck is an inspected daily driver, but being 15 years old and over 250K it does have a few issues:
- Had an intermittent check engine light a month or two ago. Two fuel injectors were recently replaced, others may need replacing down the line.
- Suspension has one undiagnosed issue--pulls to driver's side under heavy braking. Brake calipers have been checked and all pistons are free floating, so may be a suspension issue like shock stiction? No biggie for wheeling, but panic braking at 80 is not recommended until you get used to the pull.
- Usual Northeast undercarriage rust for a 15 year old 3rd Gen. Part of the exhaust-side section of frame was professionally cut and sandwich welded several years ago to mitigate rust, and has been solid since.
- Rust on bottom of lift gate lip, rusty lift gate latch handle, rust peeking through the rear fender chrome, as is typical of this vintage. Still opens and closes fine. Rear power window works fine.
- Probably could use positive and negative battery terminals - OEM terminals are worn out.
- Ran SCS F5s and BFGKOs on it previously, which was a great all-around combo but sold the wheels and tires. OEM alloy wheels are on it now, and need new tires. Recco getting a set of 5 16x8 steelies and tires and wheeling to your heart's content.
This 4Runner is tough as nails, and it's best use at this stage of life is as a mudder/ wheeler/ off-roader--the damn thing just keeps going, and the lift keeps it out of trouble. I have chased a few issues each year to keep it inspected and on the road, but always starts right up and idles well, even in the dead of winter.
Clear PA title in hand, interior thoroughly cleaned and ready to go.
Can email or text pics this afternoon when I'm back home.
Make me an offer.
