For Those Looking for a LED Light Bar

Amazon seems to be having some pretty good deals on the OPT 7 LED light bars. I've been eyeing the 22" for a while to hook up as a "behind the grill light" using the brackets I got from [MENTION=133346]BradBrad619[/MENTION] as it seems to be a good "bang for the buck" light bar. Its no Rigid or Baja Designs but does get solid reviews and at the current $58 price and includes the 380w/40 amp wiring harness/relay. The cheapest I've found this combo before is $90 (the current price on eBay) for the light bar and $25 for the harness, so essentially it is 50% off.

I wouldn't have bought it without some research and recommendations from forum members that I respect, like in this thread by [MENTION=83083]rigtec[/MENTION] .

Thanks for sharing- I've been on the fence with planning what lighting mods are in the future but at the current price it's a no brainer- I'll find somewhere I can use this at $60!
 
It's a great bar, I have a 32" in the front grill and no issues with the occasional use so far. I will say it is more of a bluish light than my Rigid Radiance but it also spills the flood light much better than the Rigid does.

Solid buy especially for the discounted price, you will be happy with it.

Ordered it as across that brand the reviews are pretty good. No moisture leaking which is what I was really concerned. If anyone is interested I can give some feedback on it when it comes in and after installed. Looking at the OPT 7 bars they have pretty good reviews across a large install base.

This is a great deal, was planning to buy one at the regular price, now I can buy a extra one.

I have this exact 32" opt7 light. It's a great light and haven't had any problems with it. The output is phenomenal, don't own any rigid a or Baja lights, but for my needs it is perfect.

Just ordered 3., will use 1 and give the other ones as gifts.

When I look at these lightbars I always want to know what the wattage is they are putting out... if you look at the big name brands (Hella, KC HiLites, Baja Designs) they only recently started giving out Lumens as a rating, lumens are really one of those subjective measurements because its a claim that most people cant actually measure.

One of the brightest lights used to be the KC Daylighter, it was a single 150 watt light.

a 42" light bar from Opt7 is only 288w and this Generic 42" lightbar is 400w

Its a little more expensive BUT I can tell you the difference between a 100w light and a 150w light is HUGE.

Now i'm only a lowly Middle School Science teacher, and I am not an electrical engineer or automotive specialist. But in terms of lights, I would think that Lumens as a rating would be more important since it is the SI unit for the total quantity of visible light emitted by a source where a Watt is the SI unit for power. I may be completely wrong but just because there is more power I don't believe that actually means that more visible light is produced (it could just mean that the light is less efficient).
As I said someone way smarter then me will hopefully chime in to correct me, but my logic is telling me that Lumens would be a better measure of what I want out of an LED Light Bar. Also it may just be a new unit applied to measure light output due to the better technology and efficiency in lights....but please correct me if I'm wrong as I love understanding new things!

Well, I happen to be a Math failure so I think my brain broke trying to look at those formulas and figures.

Here is a Spec Sheet from KC HiLites on one of their lightbars ... for the 40" it is 240w (which is actually less than the Opt7 but not as high as the Generic 42" lightbar)... I am just saying its harder for someone to do a lux(lumen) true measurement than to measure the wattage from a light.

I ordered this 32" bar.

Xprite 32" Light Bar

Reviews on Amazon were very good and for the cost it was worth a shot. Im going to tie into an Aux fuse box so I liked that they knock a few bucks off if you order without a harness and cheesy switch. I have not mounted it or tested but the build quality seems good. Having owned Rigids in the past by no means is the construction and quality the same but these also are not being used for Baja and if they need to be replaced down the road its not a big cost.
