For those of you that have dogs!

So many good looking dogs. This is by far my favorite thread!

And I love the idea of being able to drive around town or off road with my pup in the very back with the rear window rolled down, like many of you do, but not after I've seen what happened to a friend's dog when he got in an accident. The human passengers survived, but the dog stood no chance. It also collided with the passengers and hurt them too...

Because of that, I never let my dog in any car without a safety harness and buckled in...specifically, this one, because it's the only crash tested harness for dogs.

Just thought I'd give some other dog owners some food for thought. I know it's fun driving around all these other ways and usually more convenient for them to be in a kennel for packing/space saving. But in the long run, your dog isn't as safe as possible unless they are buckled in.

My wife and i have a beagle who loves the 4runner destinations, but not the voyage (she gets a little woozy looking). We always have a Kurgo bench cover on the back (petsmart) and a harness for her in case of hard stops, off-roading, etc..and of course bring lots of water.

Here is my best friend. He's as smart as they come...pretty much listens to everything I say and likes the 4Runner. I've got two other older pups, but they don't get to go on many adventures since they are not nearly as well behaved and can't really jump up into the back of the 4r, so they mostly stay home.

Love your dog man. I had one just like him. He was best friend in the world but we had to put him down a year ago. I miss that dog.
This was him at pedernales the week we put him down.

Our son is in the U.S. Coast Guard and just got stationed in Hawaii. They didn't want to put their 8 year old boxer through the quarantine process so they asked us to take care of her.

Here she is on the way to Black Powder pass (12,159') in Colorado.

Made it to the pass - patches of snow still there on 12 July.

These two ride with me to and from work everyday! I like to take them everywhere I can in the 4Runner. These guys are about 98 pounds each and the back is the perfect space for them.
