I kind of have to agree with him though. We bring up a legitimate and pressing issue and we have only gotten crickets from the people who have access to look into the problem.
We didn't even get a notification from the admin saying that they are aware of the problem and are working on fixing it.
And don't worry, I am not blaming forum moderators like yourself who only have limited control over this site and cannot really do much in this type of situation. You guys are pretty much in the dark like us.

Seems phishy for sure, but that link is clean.
The downtime Sunday and Monday was more than likely an indicator that the site was sold to a new owner. The downtime was host migration/nameserver changes propagating. Time will tell by looking at DNS and WHOIS records to know for sure.
The new email was likely a legit, though poorly executed marketing technique by the new owner looking to build a social media following. (hence the fact it ended up in my spam filter)
Nothing really to worry about I am guessing, maybe just expect new/more ads in the future.

I did go to Instagram and look up that username. The account looked shady to me, but maybe I'm just a cynical bastard. Lots of people started following. I have a hard time believing a site that has been the polar opposite of engaging (administratively speaking) would suddenly start an IG account, and if there was a new owner who prioritized engagement, it would make much more sense to start the introduction here on the actual site.

Totally agree, I hope that is the case anyways. I always use a non frequented email and a site specific passwords on forums just in case shady things do happen.

Sorry guys, I have been on a camping trip in the mountains with 110 5th graders without service. I got back yesterday afternoon and pretty much been asleep since then. I am digging through about 500 emails right now and trying to get caught up on everything.
Being a moderator is a thankless job and usually only comes up when somebody is unhappy. Of course you don't hear anything all the other days. Not to mention that only one person has the keys to the castle so there is only so much the "moderators" can do. I guess if you are unhappy with a place you spend so much time you are free to leave. Merry Christmas!

A bunch of full time IT people who give opinion that no one gives a crap about. Provide proof of hack rather than spread fears. There's probably a giant list of reasons why to update this site, but that doesn't matter. OP made a statement that this forum was hacked then proof or BS.
Also you can jump ship to Facebook or other groups, but it's not like those are secure.

I think if the previous moderator that posted had just said I’ll try to talk to someone that can figure it out for you guys, everyone would have just waited patiently.
Sites get hacked all the time, oh wells. The question is, is the $100 gift card legit? Lol
