When did waiting become such a terrible thing? People have zero patience these days. Extended lead times are common on many items that can be purchased for the 4Runner so not sure why this is surprising. If you need them tomorrow then that's just poor planning on your part. They are being honest with lead times.

The King site states 2-3 weeks lead times. It all depends on who you buy from and if they have stock in said item or not. Chances of you getting a Fox setup from a vendor with it in stock is the same as if you purchased Kings.

Fox does build a shock for normal people they just don't customize the shock for you. Did King perform the coil upgrade for free because last I checked they charged for every little thing. So your options are to pay King to make the necessary modifications/customization or you do them yourself with Fox. It's not overly difficult to source a 650/700# spring and install them/have them installed.

The Fox coils come with a 600# spring by default.

If you want custom pink/purple shocks for the normal people then go kings all the way.

Good luck with a Fox group buy. I ordered my rear DSCs about 4 weeks ago and was told it was at least a 6 week lead time.

And fox doesn't build custom shocks for us normal people, at least when I tried to get the DSCs spec'd for the Metal Tech LT springs the answer was buy something close to what you want that they stock.

This is true. Like I said above.. Last I checked with King they would not just swap out heaver coils for free. They also won't change the color for free or provide for custom lengths for free. Anything custom was at a cost. So whether I go King or Fox I still have to pay if I want something different. I don't have issue with sourcing the coil myself and swapping it out.

There are those in this forum who are running Tundra 2.5's without issue or complaints. Have you personally encountered issues with them? The only differences between a 4R 2.5 and a Tundra 2.5 rear shock would be the actual lower mount bushing (easy to swap) and slightly different valving.

I mean, if you want the OME BP-51 you have to choose the FJ kit since no specific application yet exists for the 4Runner. I don't need something stamped with '4Runner approved and tested' to use it as long as I know that the numbers make sense.

When I was shopping for my latest set of front coilovers a well respected shop told me that fox couldn't build me coilovers with 700lb springs, that I'd have to buy the "factory" setup and then have them swap the springs, incurring cost to me. King and Radflo will build them how you want them from the get-go. Now I don't know if this is still true, but you could always call and find out. I had fox on my last tuck and they were great, but the lack of customization and proper rear shock length for my application took them out of consideration. If you want the standard springs, aren't carrying extra constant load weight, and 2" rear is what you want, then they're a good option in my opinion.

I have had DSCs for almost 3 years now, I did talk to Fox and at the time they were willing to put different springs/valving for an extra fee. They will also revalve and do any other work when you send them in for maintenance. At least they used too, I haven't checked in a bit.

Gees that lead time, mine were shipped next day, they must be getting popular.

I have not got them yet. Still probably a couple weeks out. And the Tundra shocks are actually a smidgen longer then the 4Runner ones.
