Local offroad shop wants to hook me up with fox shocks and struts along with OME 885s and Toytec Superflex. Haven't heard much about em, how are they?

Not sure if this helps or not because I have never had them but I spoke to a jeep owner who was running the Fox shocks when I was on the way to Rausch last weekend and he said that he wasn't happy with them. He mentioned that the only reason he got them was because got a great deal from his local shop in NY. He was checking out my Bilstein's and stated that he wished he would have bought them instead.

I'm going to assume that if you are getting them for $100 each brand new, they aren't coilovers. Fox shock are traditionally up there with King and ICON.
The only one that is running Fox shocks that comes to mind is BlairB although he is running 2.5" Remote resi's in the front and 2.0" remote resi's in the rear. You might want to ping him for his first hand experience.

I don't have a part number, but they're not coilovers. I told the shop I was bringing in bilsteins and they swear against them. I had only heard good things, but apparently they leak? May just be a way to buy me in, but thats why I gotta ask!

Fox are great. That being said, it depends which specific shock they are trying to hook you up with. Depending on how they are valved, what length they are etc... it will result in a really different ride, or you may need to adjust your bumpstops. The rear shocks I have run about $300 per shock.
Odd setup you would have though, I don't think I have heard of anyone mixing high end shocks with OME in the front.

And I have never heard about Bilsteins leaking. I would take what they say with a grain of salt.

When you look at million dollar race trucks they either have fox or king shocks, and a few with high end bilstein stuff. they are some of the best you can buy, just make sure they are the right fit/valving for your truck.

I know I am a 2nd gen. guy but I am running fox 2.0 resi's all the way around.
Right out of the box they were ridiculously stiff and rough riding. I had to have mine valved to my rig. Now I wouldn't go back to anything else. Unless I went coilover's that is.
Fox shocks are very tunable, you just need to find someone that can do it.

I would be very concerned about a shop that wants to pair 885s with Fox shocks. The only Fox shox I know that fits the 4Runner are coilovers that do not work with normal strut springs like OME.
Make very sure you get the right shocks for the 4Runner, cause something doesn't sound right.

:iagree: Sounds fishy. The cheapest Fox suspension I've seen for the 4runner or FJ was around $2000 IIRC.

Okay so I was half wrong. They're charging me 200 for rear fox 2.0 shocks. The front it says ome nitro charger struts. They claim that fox has the best warrenty ever. Is that true? What is the warrenty on the bilsteins?

A warranty is not an opinion, in all honesty if you googled half your questions it would be less frustrating, Maybe space out the question threads with some actual contributions.

I've got fox 2.5 remote resi coilovers in the front and fox piggybacks in the rear. I love them, but I do offroad quite a bit here in colorado. If you're not planning on doing a lot of offroading, they could be a bit much as in a bit too harsh or unforgiving, but you could always revalve them if you want to soften them up for more daily driving
