Frame Dimensions

I'm out of town right now, but need to get some steel ordered from a local supplier today. I have some frame rod issues that I'm going to be taking care of this weekend and was wondering if someone knew the dimensions of the 3rd Gen frame rails? I'm going to be replacing a section on the passengers side towards the rear LCA mount. I plan on using something that is 1/4" thick. I'm just not sure if I should weld some box tubing in place of the rusted section. Or, use some angle and weld that in place of the rust.

I do plan on cutting out the rust, treating, and welding in a new piece of steel. I do not plan on welding a piece of steel over the rusted area. Hopefully someone has done this before and could help me out some. I'm perfectly capable of being able to do this job. Just need a little help on figuring out the best way of going about it.

I'll try to get the wife to send me some pictures today of the rust.

Found this in another thread. Not sure it has what you need, as I didn't see any cross section measurements. Maybe someone else can go out and measure theirs real quick.

Pretty sure most folks use 1/4" angle. I know there's plenty of folks who've done this. I think woodro has some picks of his repair. I was gonna have to do this same repair to my '96. It's since been totaled so didn't have to do it. Good luck.

I have seen that information before. However, I don't think I remember seeing the actual frame tube dimensions.

Pretty sure I'll end of using 1/4" x 2" x 2" angle to do this job. I plan on cutting out maybe a 12" section a time, and welding in the replacement. I'm afraid to cut out anything larger than that, and worried if I do the frame might shift some.
