Fridge mount

I'm looking for some info on how to mount my ARB fridge and slide. Those of you that used the marine grade plywood, what thickness did you get and did you reuse the stock tie downs in the back? If you weren't able to reuse the tie downs what did you use in place of them? Thanks

I would probably do some searching over at expedition portal to see a lot of fridge mount examples. Do post up what you come up with though as I need a better solution for mine as well.

What is the point of a fridge in most scenarios? It takes up so much space?

Well it all depends how far you are traveling and for how long. I wish I could tell you cool long expedition story but I used mine mostly when I first moved from southern cal up to the bay area. I started work up here a couple of months before my g/f did so I spent that time staying in hotels, traveling back and forth with trailers full of my crap and occasionally sleeping in the truck. I could have eaten fast food I guess, but I'm picky and was much happier having my own food.

Now since that isn't an everyday occurrence, we currently use it weekly on our grocery trips. Yep we bring the cold stuff out and it goes right in the fridge. This has the advantage of being able to get my deli meat before they shut the deli down (too damn early!), and still be able to run other errands before heading home as well shop at the grocery store we like which isn't quite near the house.

Keep in mind as well that most (if not all) of these 12volt fridges will plug in to you normal 120v AC outlet to double as extra storage at home (garage fridge? favorite beverage next to your favorite chair fridge?)

Size wise yeah I went larger than needed, but the larger version was cheaper than the next one down, so why not. Only inconvenience I have had is sleeping two in the back with it, but the same would have been true of any soggy sandwich making cooler as well.

Yeah if you live out of the truck for several days, changing ice and soggy food gets old really quick. I definately want a fridge eventually, I'm doing the ice chest thing right now and it's not my favorite.

I've had my ARB fridge and slide for years now so I'm def not using an ice chest. It's worth not having to buy ice everytime I go camping. I also use my fridge to keep my beer and drinks cool in the basement so it's worth having my ARB.

Dry ice only lasts so long, and sometimes the closest store is 1-2 hours away.
Don't have one, but it's on the list.

I mount mine in the rear passengers side seat, this way I can sleep in the truck and still have the cargo hold available for storage.

Thanks. Unfortunately I don't have specific dimensions, I just made a template using cardboard and then transferred it to 1/2" cabinet grade plywood.

^ I like that. I'm still looking for something to mount in the back of the truck. I won't be sleeping in the back because I have a RTT.

of the guys i know with the fridge they use a slider drawer type system, ARB sells them and are configurable, like most things you could probably just source the parts and build it yourself and save a few bucks.

Personally I would love to end up with something like this:

but the price is just a bit out of my range by about 3 times what I would probably be willing to spend on a fridge slide lol.
