front D ring mounts

Two sets were complete today. One to NC and one to SC. Fabricating more brackets this weekend for those who want them. Let me know.

I have another set primed and ready for paint.

When installed they look like the picture; icicle is depending on the weather of course.

Great looking piece and half the price of the Sonoran Steel shackle hangers! But can someone please explain to me:

1. The hinge point is kinda high up there and there is a piece that hangs down right in front of it. Won't the D-ring hit whatever is in front of it if you were to put a hook or strap onto it and pull forward and damage something? In other words, can the D-ring be pulled perpendicular without hitting anything?

2. I get that this mount is a really beefy block of metal. However, I've been looking at something like this Keeper Hook which is rated for 10k lbs and is much cheaper. Is that not enough for a recovery strap extraction?

I was thinking the same thing.

There have been a lot of folks who have pulled others or have been pulled while 4Wheeling with these. It hasn't been an issue that has been brought up.

Just placed my order, will these smittybuilt shackles work well? I cant seem to find any 3/4" on tractor supply

Amazon.com: Smittybilt 13047B 3/4" Black D-Ring: Automotive

Yes, they will work well. The 3/4" D-rings have a 7/8" diameter pin, which is what is needed for these shackle brackets. Most are rated for 4.75 ton WLL (working load limit). Here are couple more:

Warn (92093) 3/4" Premium Winch Shackle:Amazon:Automotive

Campbell T9641235 Screw Pin Anchor Shackle, Forged Steel, Galvanized, 3/4" Trade, 4-3/4 ton Working Load Limit:Amazon:Industrial & Scientific

I added Daystar Isolators to mine to keep them from rattling against the frame. The reviews are good, they stay in place well, and they look kinda cool too! Available in black, red, yellow and blue.

That set is now out and another is ready. The primer will go on tomorrow and will be ready for paint if anyone needs another set.

Priority #1: shackle brackets
Lower priority: Sport skid plate.
I know that there is no interference with the shackle brackets and the stock black two-piece skid plates.

Does anyone know if the "sport" aluminum skid plate mount out of the way so that it does not interfere with shackle bracket and D-ring functionality? Anyone with both of these accessories care to post opinions and/or pics? Thanks
