Front Dif Drop Help

I have a 2005 that the inner CV boots are starting to leak. I have a 2.5 inch lift in the front. The tech at the dealer said that I need to install the dif drop. Who makes the best kit for my truck?

yea i have the toytec one and pretty straight-forward.
the only hard part was getting the original bolts off the front diff. then the new bolts are a different size. I had to buy a breaker bar and two large sockets to get er done. Also getting the skids back on was a little tricky.
i left the skids off for a couple days after install to re-tightened it all.
 
I had one but took it off, it is not really needed on our trucks.

If I were you I would just reband the CV's and move on. I have 63k miles and counting on my truck and it has been lifted almost that entire time and have had no problems. My truck is right around 3.5" of suspension lift in front. I wheel with a ton of guys over on 120 and I do not know a single one who has needed a diff drop. With our trucks the angle from the factory was negative, so now that you are lifted the angle is almost the same, just the opposite direction.

Thx man, ur post helped, I have an 03 v8 sr5 FT4WD and i am putting the daystar 2.5/1.5 on er this weekend and have heard about the diff drop, ur the 2nd or 3rd person I have read to say that the angle is the same just reversed when lifted.
 
I installed the Daystar 2.5/1.5 not too long ago and didn't opt for the diff drop. Doesn't even look like I need it since the front axles (CV) are just about level (horizontal).

I agree with this. Just reclamp.

yep, don't bother with the diff drop just re band them and you are good to go.
 
When I installed my ds 2.5. I found my cv boots were leaking. The lift, didn't cause them to leak. I don't think a diff drop is necessary.

Thanks for the help guys. I am going to reband them for now. Once it warms up I will clean the joint and repack it and then i should be good to go.
