Front differential from hell

I am hearing a whining sound out of I think the front differential. I removed the belly pan cover off and shook the front differentials and took the following two videos.

Is this amount of play normal? Looking at the parts list for the front differential, there are needle bearings and I see some different size washers that can be ordered. Has anyone else had this issue and what did you do to resolve it?

Not long ago, the CV Boots on each side needed to be replaces so the local garage replaced the shafts with after market shafts.

Thanks.

A little in and out play like that is normal and won't cause a problem. It's the up and down play where the CV goes into the differential that may cause some problems.

Play is completely normal as shown in your vids. You shouldn't hear a whine out of a factory diff unless it has gone dry or an output bearing has gone bad.
