Front Driver's Side Strut Issue

After doing some research online is there no way to replace the front left strut??

My understanding of the system is that you would have to replace the front driver and rear passenger shocks. Since fluid was lost, you can't do just the front driver side strut.

If, for example, the front driver side strut was blown, but no fluid had been lost, you could replace just the one shock.

Either way, trying to salvage your xreas is going to be a risk. For the price, you can swap to aftermarket shocks with a lifetime warranty, which is the better deal imo.

Yea I just spoke with the service adviser at toyota and he explained to me how it works is that once a chamber is compromised by getting air in it the WHOLE system has to be bled and refilled. He told me there are 2 chambers per strut and there is some specific tool that toyota uses to bleed the system. Labor is 3.5 hours and then the parts. Bilsteins are looking goood right about now. hahaha

Just spoke with the guy who said he will sell me the FJ coils for 100 bucks. I am leaning more towards that because I am somewhat on a budget. I will be in the market for new tires soon and want to get some good tires. He told me the FJ suspension only has 100 miles on them and he is going to send me a picture later.

As for the swap, what kind of modifications would need to be done? Shaving or anything? I appreciate your help with this man.

Interesting, I've never heard that the system could be bled and refilled. Everything I've seen shows that it's a closed system.

Anyhow, on to the fj question. On the front, you'll need to shave the bushing and on the rear you'll need to enlarge the mounting hole on the chassis. I've not done this, but from what i've read that's what it takes.

Those shocks will work, may not handle quite as good as stock. It won't be bad and will solve your current issue though.

That was my understanding as well. Once you open it up the whole system is done.

Yea I'm just going to get rid of it.

Also, I have the guy shipping me his OEM FJ shocks either tomorrow or Saturday. I'll keep ya updated on how the swap.
