Front driveshaft out for rear regear

I am going to remove the front driveshaft before installing my regeared rear 3rd, are there any downfalls to this besides getting a ABS light? It will only be temporary until I get the funds to get the front regeared.

AFAIK, you shouldn't have to even do that. Just keep it in 2hi and don't put it in 4wd

and why would you get an abs light. THe speeds sensors are at each wheel bearing. The front tires are going to move the exact speed as the rear in 2wd regardless of the gearing

You can always use your front axle for secondary propulsion if your new 3rd grenades all over the road. Go ahead, ask me how I know...

Shouldn't have any issues. You might even see a slight increase in MPGs.

You don't even need to remove the front driveshaft. Keep it out of 4wd till you re-gear the front.

Mine is out right now for basically the same reason. Except I had to replace my front diff and I re-geared to 4.30 while I was at it so I could install my 4.30 E locker.

The only thing i noticed was a jump in MPG. I am gettin awesome gas mileage with it out and having manual hubs as well.

I don't see how removing the front driveshaft would improve MPG.
