front grill question removal

Is the front grill of a 2006 one piece...I looked at it and all the hardware for the latch mechanism and what not appear to be attatched to the grill. Is there a way to remove just the chrome pieces so that the vehicle can still be driven or must it all come off in one piece??? I ask b/c this is my daily driver and I want to remove the chrome in order to paint it flat black.

Looking at this it would appear there is some sort of outer shell that can be removed w/out messing w/ the hood latch and surrounding parts. Might have to do some dinking around tomorrow

It does come off in one piece. You have to disassemble the linkage rod and then there are about 8 or so acorn nuts.
You can look at my build thread to see a pic. I just removed my grille last night.

2008 Toyota 4Runner Grill

Anyone know how to remove the acorn nuts when they will not release? The plastic mounting bracket will not secure the top of the nut tight enough to remove the nut. I tried WD-40. Nothing seems to work. Thx for your help.
