A month or so ago, I replaced the front brake pads on my 2000 4runner with Napa pads. I don't remember the exact version, but they were about $40 for the set. When I put them on I didn't have any problems, but I did notice that it seemed to come with two different spring clips, but only one set seemed to fit my T4R, and I also noticed that the new pads did not come with any anti-squeal shims, and I didn't think it was appropriate to reuse the old ones, so I just left them out.
Anyway...I've been noticing almost ever since then that my brakes would sometimes squeak, kind of like something is rubbing as I drive along (so it's not a constant squeak, but more of a pulse once per revolution), but ONLY when my foot is NOT on the brake pedal. It also isn't totally consistent -- sometimes it's really noticeable, other times not at all. I don't feel the brakes actually activating but I know something over there is rubbing but I don't know quite what it is. I haven't had a chance to jack it up and take a look yet but I wondered if anyone had any ideas? It's pretty irritating at times, especially when you're driving in a narrow alley so the sound bounces back and you can hear it super loudly.
