Front Passenger Speakers no sound, need some help

Well as the thread states Im getting no sound out of my front passenger speakers, this is a 1997 t4r SR5 V6 4x4. I put my ear up to them and had a very faint crackling but it was almost not noticeable. I tried to check for a voltage at the incomming wires but didnt see anything. What voltage should you look for? The rear passenger speaker is working fine. Could this be a head unit issue? If I have an amp where should i look for it? If anyone could give me some testing procedures to help troubleshoot I would be greatful.

Really stupid question

but have you messed with the fade controls? Also im un clear on whether you found power to the speakers when you checked the wires?

Could be a blown speaker, a blown channel in the head unit, or a problem with the wiring to that speaker. Have you done any work recently that could have damaged the wiring from the deck to that speaker?

As for troubleshooting, I'd test a known good speaker in place of the one you're trying to troubleshoot, if it works then you know the problem is the speaker right away.

Well I purchased the vehicle like this, I have taken apart the door and kick plate to look for broken wires and everything looked fine. I did notice that there was some static on the speaker though it was very low. Im going to swap drivers & passenger door speakers out tonight to see if there is any difference. What voltage should you expect to see at the speaker while the head unit is on, im assuming its 12v dc or less. I have checked fade controls and that isnt it.

I'm not sure there's a right answer to this, I'm thinking it would depend on the volume level and power of the headunit. Maybe not a reliable way to test, unless you test the working speakers and see if the bad speaker gets the same signal strength.
