Front recovery points

The bolt fits but I have to run a a metal plate with welded on nuts that has the wire to fish through an opening in frame(created by removing crush bar) to the drilled out hole
The drilled out hole on the inside is flared up so the metal plate doesn’t lay flush
The hole on the inside is basically flared

oh I get it- ya that would be a PIA and not easy to do. I don't even know how you'd tackle that, if you even can

Anyone know what brand these are?

look like treaty oak, same mounting hole pattern
 
I have these from Ironman 4x4 America. They are out of stock very often, but I love them.

So I actually looked around in the frame n where the 2 holes are{one already there, 2nd has to be drilled out(there is a circle on frame but it’s blocked by factory steel inside frame)} n inside between the 1st/2nd hole is a random maybe 1/8” metal plate

This means the provided welded nut plate you fish in the crush bar will not be flush on the inside REGARDLESS

I have the front apex recovery points and didn't have to drill anything. They use existing holes on the frame and you just have to put bolt them on
 
apex overland recovery points:
non-kdss: 15 minute install (no stick nuts)
kdss: basically as much work as installing a new front bumper (uses stick nuts to get in the frame from the front)
 
The factory "tie down points" are actually really stout recovery points I don't care what the manual says. I've welded pipe in power plants for several years in my younger days and a degree in bioelectrical engineering with a wealth of structural knowledge. The ends go all the way through the cross member and are welded on the front and back side with a heavy 1/4 throat bead. A proper weld will not break the cross member tubing will tear before those recovery points break. And mine have been well tested over the past 12 years. I'm not sure how a bolt is stronger than a weld but ok then.

Saw a Tacoma winched out of a wash using 3 winches. One on the driver side frame, and 1 on each of the front recovery points at angles. No issues at all. Anything more would have required a toe truck or crane of some sort. I am good just using them as is.

I've used my factory recovery points 6 times now to get snatched and winched out. No issues and I feel totally safe using them.

You like your bumper!? I did so I built it myself for about $75. Except made it better. I'm building another some random guy at the gas pump offered to buy it.

Just poking a little fun. Hope people don't take it too serious. As long as people are happy and safe, I'm all for it. Whatever that means for them.

I do have a real beef with the vendors who prey on fear and lie about the safety of the oem loops to people who don't know any better to sell $5 steel plates for $150. They know that the OEM loops are stronger and safer than the aftermarket ones. If they don't, that's probably worse.

I agree. You just gave me a great idea sir! Yeah I could sit on my a$$ all day and bust out twenty or so sets of those.
