Front strut assembly issues

Had a shop install my lift 2 years ago. Started getting a squeak from my top hat. Replaced it but couldn’t get the top nut to engage with threads with the bottom washer (circled in green) in place. Also realized the shop left the washer out in the first place. Is this okay?

I ended up leaving the washer out. My front suspension looks like this.

Has anyone had a similar issue?

The washer on the top of the shock (under the top-hat) is pretty important, would probably cause premature wear along with clunking noises without it.

Tip: use a small floor jack to push the shock assembly up into the top-hat enough to get the nut started prior to seating it in the lower control arm.

I tried using the jack but ended up lifting the entire side of the car off the jack stand supporting the frame. Not sure what’s going on, but I almost feel the cushions are too thick.

Try supporting the opposite side of the rear frame area with another jack stand, that should help keep more weight on the front.
