Front Suspension Help- Clunk noise

I have a 2014 SR5 w/ the Toytec Boss Coilovers, Total Choas UCAs, Toytec Diff drop and the swaybar relocation. I recently added my rear lift to my 4runner (2inch Icon Coils - Bilstien 1500s) and decided to crank my front coilover lift. I believe the driver side Coilover has 21 visual threads showing on the bottom and the passenger has 17-18 threads showing so i dont think the shock is maxed out

My problem is when my truck has been sitting for a few hours and when i decide to drive out of my neighborhood i have to go over a few speed bumps. When i hit the first speed bump after sitting it makes a very noticeable clunk/bang from the right side. The second bump is not near as bad but after that the others are fine.

I have not gotten an alignment yet so that could be the problem.

Has anyone had this experience before or know of a solution.

Dunno, I have Toytec/Bilsteins and they clunk when it's cold.

Everything is assembled correctly.

Assuming you have the sway bar spacer in as well as the radiator support spacers in? When I recently took my skids off I saw a little spot those radiator supports had rubbed, probably when off-roading I guess.

My build isn't quite the same as yours, but I had a mystery clunk when going over speed bumps and up and down curbs a while back. The first solution was my strut was blown. (We think) After replacing that an additional clunk started from the ball joints in my UCA's which had gone bad. I had a toytec ultimate lift in the beginning and Light Racing UCA's. (older light racing UCA's had ball joint issues) So like I said not the same situation as yours but maybe someplace to look

had this a while back with my Radflo setup. I went through everything - UCA/LCA bushings, uniballs, tighten EVERYTHING. Turned out I had a bad seal in one of my shocks. took about 6 months to get parts from radflo and wasted my entire summer wheeling season frusty but it completely fixed the problem

Mine does the same thing. My build is similar to yours except that yours is a trail with kdss and mine is sr5. I turned raised my suspension to go higher and started squeaking. I disconnected and removed my front sway bar and now I don't have the squeaking sound when my front coil over is turned up. I don't think the sway bar spacer is made for us to turn the coil over up without any noise. This is what I noticed

The noise doesn't seem to come from the sway bar but more from the Coilover. the UCAs are brand new and maybe have a thousand miles or two on them.

Do you guys think that my alignment has anything to do with it? I cant get it realigned till next week

If it is a quietish "thunk" that happens more in the morning or when it's cold than when it's warm, it's likely just the common thunk that the 5th gens get when you lift them that NOONE knows where it comes from yet.

If there is a "Clank" or "Clang" then it is most likely the sway bar hitting your coils on one side or the other, look for scuff marks on the coils near where the sway bar is closest to them, or as mentioned above, if you have the sway bar relocation brackets installed, then you are most likely hitting the radiator supports on the drivers side.

I still have a bit of the radiator support clank when off roading and hitting big bumps, also I have the 5th gen clunk from being lifted on cold mornings. If I took off the relocation bracket, the sway bar would then definatly hit the coils. It's kind of a no-win situation of changing the geometry from how it was initially designed. (Well some will say remove the front sway bar but IMHO that is not wise to drive on the freeway that way, especially when lifted)

That was it! The last few days have been in the 20s-30s and thats when i completed my install. Today was 60 and i took my 4runner out and it was smooth again. So it must be the cold weather.

easiest/cheapest place to start is by checking the nitrogen levels in your coilovers. due to air cargo restrictions, they are often shipped without the nitrogen charge, but no one seems to tell you this at the time of purchase. head to a reputable installer or motor cycle shop, they should be able to check the charge level for free.

okay i may start with that. i thought it was happening because of the cold weather but it did it again today when i first pulled out.

Do you think my local 4x4 shop will be able to check that? i am taking my 4runner in tuesday am for an alignment.
