Front wipers won't park at bottom

Hi
I have a 2001 that when I turn the wipers off will either park pointed up (if I turn them off right after turning on) or will park 3-4 inches up after they have reached the bottom.
Otherwise they work fine, they do variable speed intermittent and slow/fast.
This 4Runner is new to me (after owning other 4Runners for the past 13 years) so I don't know the service history, But I have never seen this kind of behavior on any car.
Any suggestions?

This just started happening on my 2002 as well. The last time I saw something like this was on a MR2 I used to have and it was the "home position" sensor in the wiper motor had given up the ghost so the motor would randomly stop where ever it felt like. A new wiper motor and it was good to go again, sadly the 4Runner wiper motors are pretty salty from Toyota (~$170) so I haven't jumped on this job quite yet.
