Frozen blower

On my 4th gen the blower motor keeps on freezing.

I have seen the tsb for it, but haven't added the gasket maker to the housing yet.


But I have cleaned out the housing and ran the truck wit the heat on and then the AC on to get all the humidity out of the truck.


Those that have had these problems, did you replace your actual motor and the louvre too? Or did the gasket maker just fix the problem?

Mine started to squeak and freeze on cold days. Bought a replacement motor from rockauto and haven't had a problem since. Mine is a 2004, a gasket might help it last longer but now it's probably too late.

Part of the TSB talks about inserting what looks like a foam cut-out to help alleviate blower freezing along with sealing part of the housing. To be honest though, you're the first I ahve ever heard of actually having this issue; I believe there is an updated blower assembly for the vehicle if you want to go that route as well.

I had this issue when I first bought my used T4R, which is why I wanted to post the helpful TSB.

The Toyota dealership where I bought my T4R honored the TSB, even though my 4Runner was well past the warranty period. They did not replace the blower motor.

I did the TSB (foam and sealant) a few years ago when I was having this issue and have had no issues since then. I did not replace the blower motor or anything else.
