Frustrating Nav chainges

When I bought my 2012 limited t4r one of the most impressive systems was the voice activated navigation.
I could be driving and hit the button and state" New Destination-and then say the full address and it worked like a charm. all in one breath.

My 2014 SR5 nav has been problematic for me. They changed the command to insert multiple prompts. I hit the button and now have to state" I need directions to an address" then it processes, then I offer it the address" there's a very high failure rate with the new system. Maybe its the mic but the accuracy of the voice recognition is very poor.

I was trying to get to convoy st in san diego last week and I stated the address at least 12 times. My wife also tried and it offered many different streets. including one result in Quebec.

I finally had to stop and manually enter the address. Of course then it easily found the street.

i'm wondering if any of you have had similar frustrations with a newer system performing much worse than the old one.

note that I did perform the voice training....

I thought I read somewhere the newer GPS units have a Voice Recognition feature (train GPS to understand your voice) feature - check your OM to see if this is accurate.

Hi Digitalwiz,

It's not the mic, your ability to enter the protocol, or the new truck. There is a serious problem with the "Entune" firmware version build design. Many here have searched far and wide to find a solution to this on-going navigation issue, but to no avail however, a few weeks ago we may have made just a little headway going fwd 'take a look': http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/162771-2014-entune-problems-2.html#post1760269

Hoping this helps bring you some tangible membership support and encouragement that a solution is not very far off! Best to you!

rigtec, cheers

I have a 2015 SR5p and yeah, the prompts suck! Especially when all you want to do is go to a well known named place when you don't know the address. Such as the "Vista DMV".

But besides that, the voice recognition and or the logic for processing the voice commands is just practically non functional. I've tried it several times and only once had it work right off. Most times end in utter failure :(
