FS: 1997 4Runner Trail-Ready, Pleasant Grove, UT $6,700 - *Price Drop*
***SOLD***
For sale is my 1997 Toyota 4Runner Limited 4x4. As stated below, it has the e-locker, and initially came with 4.30 gears in the diffs. Over the course of owning it, I’ve changed the timing belt (twice) along with all the other stuff in there (pulleys, water pump, etc.), and I’ve been really fastidious about making sure belts are done at least every other year. The alternator is about a year and a half old, and the valve cover gaskets were done at the same time. After lifting it, I got the common leaky cv boots, so I replaced both boots, and ultimately replaced one cv axle prophylactically (eliminating a suspension noise), so I have a spare OEM cv axle. I recently flushed the coolant, and even more recently the power steering fluid. The battery is a brand new Die Hard Platinum (same as Odyssey). I just did plugs and wires about 6 months ago, and the fuel filter is about a year and a half old (they are considered “lifetime” parts). There are no leaks or drips, and the emergency/parking brake actually works. I fixed that when I replaced the drums and shoes on the rear axle last year. A small leak developed in the transfer case rear seal, so I replaced that last summer. The shocks were rebuilt by HPST in September of 2011 with new seals, wipers, and coil springs. Before driving about 5 hours to southern Utah (Kodachrome State Park) last weekend, I checked the oil at 3500 miles and it was golden in color, and the air filter was replaced one month ago. There are no leaks or drips that I am aware of.
I have taken the 4Runner off road, and it does really well. I have not, however, abused it, or done heavy rock crawling – I’m too chicken for that. I don’t want to damage the thing. I was thinking about it, and I’ve only put it in 4-low once in the last 12 months, and that’s no way for this 4Runner to live. I’ve been trying to make the 4Runner work for me with more mods and more power, but I just need a full-size truck at this point. We have trees and other green waste, along with countless other home-improvement projects to do that prevent me from getting out with the local 4x4 scene. I’ve built it as much as I’ve wanted, and it’s time to move forward with something else. My time, money, and hard work are yours to gain.
Anyway, that’s the long story. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

The supercharger is no longer included in the sale of the 4Runner

There are no drips, no leaks, I just changed the power steering fluid. I've used synthetic fluids and changed often. I have perfect confidence in this vehicle.
*I have clean title in hand. In the interest of full disclosure, the title is clean, but the vehicle is a Canadian theft recovery that was brought to the US and given a new VIN. The title states that it has been given odometer-"exempt" status. I know that for the past 75,000+ miles it has been the best vehicle I've ever owned. The indicators like front seat and carpet wear, as well as the overall condition indicate that the actual miles are certainly not excessive. There's nothing rattling apart on this 4Runner.
