FS: 37k miles 3rd Gen, White Limited...Flawless!!

also, without trying to start another pissing match on this feed, where do you bank? because i want to join that branch.
you are implying that we're too young to understand loans and appreciate a 16yr old, $20k, stock 4runner. And perhaps some on here are. and perhaps some are also inexperienced when it comes to taking out loans.

But the fact remains that NO bank on Earth is going to loan $20,000 or $16,000 or Even your other suggestion of $12,000 for a 16 year old vehicle that blue books between $6,000-$7,800. Simply Not Happening. well unless you want to put your house as collateral on something as susceptible as a vehicle. in which case, if it gets totaled, you will still be responsible for another $13,000 and have no car and have a lean on your house. but then again.... that too is assuming that all of us "children" on here could possibly afford to put full coverage on the vehicle and have something a bank would consider for collateral, along with $8,000 to put down. this feed is getting ridiculous. only way someone is buying this is if they have that money in their checking account. and Yes people.... i know there are many people out there that DO have that in their account.

so again, with no disrespect to the seller, all i think the majority of us are saying is that, for us, a modded out 2010 is what we would expect to purchase in that price range.
With that said, i think you have a really nice 4runner and i believe that there is a buyer out there for it. and as i said before, he's sure to be looking on t4r.org for one. but he is also just as likely to be searching the auctions. so best of luck. i'm sure it'll sell

it's not about being young. it's about being practical. now unless a person is rich and like the original post says "wants to remember what a 3rd gen drives like new", it's simply not practical when there are listings on here like this for only $3k more: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/sale-vehicles/207996-2010-trail-edition-se-ny.html

The problem with that is that it's a 5th gen.

Clean 3rd gens selling for that kind money has happened numerous times before. You could argue all day that a bank won't give a loan or that you think that you understand this situation better, but the fact of the matter is that there are people out there that are willing to spend big bucks on a mint 3rd gen. Everyone seems to assume that this vehicle is a dry-rotted, leaky mess without even seeing it.

I definitely don't assume it's rotted or leaky. In fact, I assume it's not fit the price. And I agree people are out there who will spend big bucks on this. But it's not going to come from a bank. Not 100% anyways. And there's no need for guys on here to call people young and imply we're broke and don't know what a loan is just because people have expressed their opinions. My comments been very neutral in my opinion. And I stick to one of my original posts about an auction house being a great place for such a rare 4runner. But, I'm also glad it's on here. I think this is a great place to buy!

Ok, I just read the post again and I think I took it the wrong way. He said "Even if you took out a loan...what's that? $250 a month for 5 years?"
Clearly after reading it again, it was a rhetorical question answered by the $250/month statement.
Given all the trash talk on this thread, I originally thought he was being condescending and implying that the guys who disagree with the asking price clearly can't get loans. I apologise. My bad

I know 20K seems like a lot for you younger guys but if I totaled my truck I would seriously consider buying this 4runner. If it was a manual I'd probably jump on it. Even if you took out a loan...what's that? $250 a month for 5 years? Put $4000 down, $8000 down & the payments get cheaper.

I'm not going to get in the asking price debate, since he's entitled to ask whatever he wants. However, you'll never be able to get a loan for anywhere near that amount on a 17 year old vehicle.

ya lol at sonning people on this thread then say to take out a loan for a 15 year old car.. no bank would ever do that..

Now you may have a credit card with a low interest rate to pull some cash from.. but would most likely have to pay it back in a year..

you either have the cash in your checking account or savings account, which sadly in this world is very few people.. and the people who do, usually make sound financial decisions..

hope you get it, but id expect you sell it for like 10-12k.. Jump on the dude offering you 15k if he was serious..

I wasn't being condescending to anyone. No worries.
If I were to buy it I would offer 15K & maybe go as high as 17.5.
I just bought a 2004 Subaru Outback LL Bean Edition for my GF with only 39,000 mile on it, garage kept & only one owner, all service done at the dealer. This car is mint! We put 4k down & financed the rest. The asking price was 12.9K & I got them down to 11K because of dry rot/seals etc. The bank would only finance for 4years because of age but gave us 3.25% interest because of my great credit. There are plenty of ways to finance if you need to, personal loans, credit unions, credit cards, family, 401K, against your house if you own one. Where there's a will there's a way.

$20,000 for a 16 year old base model 4x4? You have got to be kidding me. I nominate you for the first expedition to Mars... Back here on earth things depreciate.

Years of sitting in the sun, and years of low use/inactivity are just as bad if not worse than years of regular use... Sitting idle is bad for the car. It would be a different story if it was bought new in 2000. Everything was drained and it was stored in a climate controlled warehouse for the past 15 years...

No one in their right mind would spend 20k on a 16 year old non collectible car. Are you the only owner? When did you get it? What year and what was the mileage?

If it were me I would sell it immediately to the guy who offered 15k for it... that is way more than its worth.

After replacing all the brake lines, wiring, gaskets, seals, coolant, transmission fluid, oil, brake fluid, power steering fluid, tires, etc... your looking at a lot of $$$ in maintenance...

Read the ad again, it's a Limited Edition & garage kept one owner. Not a base model baking in the sun. LOL

Why would you replace the brake lines? Have you looked at the truck? My truck has never been garaged & I live in the salt belt & my brake lines are fine.

Its not a Lexus, not a Land Cruiser, not anything special. It was the entry level SUV in the Toyota lineup at the time of production maybe except the RAV4... So in that sense it is just a basic 4x4.

As far as brake lines and such after 10 years its something that needs to be monitored and replaced as needed.

Was the garage climate controlled?

I'm sure for its age it is a very nice vehicle. But it is not a $10k plus vehicle.

You might want to check your brake lines... haha

This statement right here proves that you certainly don't know anything about the resale value of 3rd gens because this is worth well over 10k. I bet the original window sticker was over 35k and I would not consider that to be pricing for an entry level SUV.

I checked my brake lines when I did my lift this summer & added Stainless Steel extensions in the rear. Drained the system, added new fluid & bled them. They are fine.
:first:

did you bleed them in a right rear, left rear, right front, left front pattern? oh i really hope you did that!! ha ha ha

Bump to a fellow 1999 4Runner w low mileage

Earlier this year, I picked up mint 1999 Limited owned by senior w 40k miles.
Around same time, I saw a 2001 Limited go for 13.5k w 52k miles in Pennsylvania.
I would guess that you would get at least 5k more in PNW.

I don't plan on selling mine as I want to make it the ultimate stock looking sleeper w no visible mods. After changing all the oils, the first thing I did was the Tundra brake upgrade w slotted and drilled rotors (Thank you T4R.org and specifically Speedy's how to video for that one. I believe it helped my wife who was pregnant at the time avoid an accident. A Land Rover cut her off (typical behavior on East Coast) and came to complete sudden stop. My wife said she slammed on brakes and prayed she and baby would be ok. She stopped a half foot short of Land Rover. That wouldnt have been the outcome w 3rd gen stock brakes).

Anyway, next month, I'm doing LevelTen valve body upgrade (prevent any transmission issues) and then having TRD supercharger w URD 7th injector installed (prevent any pinging). Then I'll look for that douche in Land Rover.

Best of luck to you!

How do you find these low mileage trucks?! Not than I'm in the market for one, just like to day dream about having a 3rd-gen with under 1000k miles

WRONG AGAIN

I'm "the dude offering 15k. I went a different route and didn't buy this one, but just to clarify things for some folks, you're wrong.

I've gotten bank loans for 15, 20, 30 year old cars. Been doing it for 29 years. I can (and anyone can) get a loan for a 20 year old car, at 3% for 72 months.
Secondly, there are dozens of companies that allow you to do this.
I have bought older cars this way and friends of mine have used banks and companies like this to buy old cars.
This is just one of them.

It's funny you think only people with a lot of money can buy older cars and that they go around paying cash for them.
LOL
:censored:

Yeah they'll loan money for a classic that has appreciated in value. But I find it hard to believe they'll loan 15-20k on a car that blue books for 8-9k. Unless, like I originally said, you have something of equal value for collateral.

Age, make, model, condition, doesn't matter.
You don't need collateral either.
