Up for sale is my mom's cream puff '00 SR5 4Runner 4x4 with the 3.4L and a 5-speed with 103,xxx miles. Gauging interest, price is negotiable, but I don’t have to sell this and it is somewhat sentimental to me. I know it’s somewhat rare, because she had a hard time finding and buying a new T4R with the V-6 and a manual which she had to have back in the early ‘00s. The truck was purchased new by my mom in Texas (cause we could not find a V-6/5-speed on the east coast). She and I then drove it back to NC. She drove it almost exclusively since new and is very meticulous about maintenance and washing. She is also a very careful conservative driver. She has never gotten any kind of ticket since she started driving in the ~60s (she turns 80 in October if you want to give her a B-day gift) She took it to Cox Toyota in Burlington, NC for practically everything except maybe a battery and or a set of tires…maybe an oil change when it was out of warranty. I am sure it got an oil change every 3k and she probably did everything recommended to her by Cox. I/we have receipts from most of the maintenance if not all. I just looked through a folder covering about everything since 55k-ish (pictured) from Cox Toyota and then Larry H Miller Toyota since my mom moved to Arizona in '11 or so.
The truck got a clutch at 84,xxx maybe a year before the car was driven out from NC to AZ. Interior is really clean and never smoked in. Options are power locks, power windows, ABS, alloy wheels, cloth interior, power mirrors, factory tow hitch (although it never towed anything other than my ’49 CJ-3A which I flat towed with the 4Runner about 5 miles across town one time), factory tint on the rear windows, retractable radio antenna, factory stereo and speakers, etched glass with the vin (or something) from the factory, rear defrost…if that’s an option, horn, auto dimming rearview mirror with a digital compass, temp gauge, and an adjustable sight and a compass the stock…oh wait never mind. That was my Daisy BB-gun. I dunno what else. It does not have the optional rear locker (boo) but if there is anything else you want me to look for I’ll check. It also has the removable factory carpet floor mats in the cargo area and passenger foot wells. The front floor mats have been swapped out for Husky or some other high-end molded carpet floor mats (not the crappy ones from Autozone that turn to dust after a few weeks). The interior is tan. I think we even have the original cargo cover thingy that goes over the rear cargo area to block items from view of nefarious passersby. It also has 275/70R16LT BFG All-Terrains that have about ~50% tread and a full-size spare tucked under the back.
There is no rust on the vehicle that I can see anywhere. I have not crawled under it, but I am happy to take pictures if interested parties would like. It is a Southern vehicle and was probably only driven in snow 4 or 5 times? For its age and mileage I would give it an easy 10 out of 10. I’d keep it, but I already have way too many projects…I will keep it unless the right buyer comes along…I am very torn. It’s a very nice truck.
In the name of full disclosure the vehicle was rear-ended in 2003 or 2004 (I can verify the date) and received very little damage. I think it got a new rear bumper and a little body work on the bottom edge of the tailgate (pictured). I can check into where it was repaired, but the damage was not major and I am sure it went to a good body shop. There is no rust on the tailgate/liftgate, hitch, or the back of the truck that I can see. It also has a little bit of paint missing from the passenger side mirror (pictured). There is also a small dent on the driver side front fender (pictured). There is also some slight damage to the plastic front bumper cover thingy (pictured). I don’t know about any other issues but I doubt there are any as she would have had them repaired. My mom would still be driving the truck but she had to have reconstructive shoulder surgery last year and now has to drive an automatic . It also has some aftermarket aluminum steps so my folks could get in and out easier in the last couple of years. We still have the factory mud flap that had to be removed when the step was installed (at Cox Toyota in Burlington NC).
