FS: 3rd Gen 2000 4runner Highlander - SF bay, CA - $8700

Hi guys,

Up for sale is a black 2000 Toyota 4runner 4x4 with tan interior. 177k miles. Automatic transmission

Very clean, runs perfectly. Everything works! I'm a 4runner enthusiast and the car has been very well taken care of. Always a California / Arizona car. No rust whatsoever. Just passed smog with flying colors.

Highlander option:
- Sport Seats in great condition
- Bigger brakes from the Limited
- Electronic rear locking differential (e-locker)
- Hood Scoop
- Stereo/speakers from the Limited. I installed a Kenwood deck with iPod connection. Sounds great.

When I bought it (~23,000 miles ago) I had a dealership perform:
- Timing Belt Replacement
- Drive belts replacement
- Water pump replacement
- I have documentation for all of these

I also:
- changed both front axles with CVJ axles w/ silicone boots ~10,000 miles ago
- Changed oil every 5k-6k miles with Mobil 1 Synthetic and Toyota oil filters.
- Lubed the driveshafts as needed
- Plugs and wires were changed by previous owner right before I bought the car (blue wires)

A/C blows ice cold. Doesn't leak anything. Shifts smooth. Nice Toyo Tires. Runs like a new truck.

Some "Arizona pin striping" along the sides. Most should polish out.

Also included: wheel caps (paints chipped a bit), Ski Rack, Bug shield

Am I missing something? KBB has $4,493 as the value for this type of vehicle in Very Good condition. Great looking truck, but $8,700?

I have a 99 2WD and would love a 4WD.....

Short answer: these things are worth what someone is willing to pay. I've kept a close eye on similar runners that have sold in my area and I think my price is fair. Of course, everything is negotiable

I think that there is a point here ....
there is the Toyota tax and then there is over priced...
for an excample there is a runner that was posted with a diesel swap on here that is the same price as your runner.... sure yours is newer but stillll


Either way, that black is sharp and I wish you luck in your sale, hope the runner finds a good home, just rember what people ask for and what people get are two diffenert things...

I agree with the OP's price point. I have a 1999 black Highlander Auto without E-Locker option, and I would price it at $7k with similar mileage. It's a Midwest truck though, so it has undercarriage surface rust. But I would rather keep it as KBB doesn't represent the accurate value for a rust-free 3rd gen T4R with locker.

It'll probably go for $7,500 to $8,000 at the end of the day. Nice truck!

4Runner values are a bit skewed when especially when it comes to the aging 3rd gens. Nice shape,rust free and low mileage Runners can command a higher price than the used car guides dictate and with a little patience coupled with the fact that nice 3rd gens aren't getting more common most sellers should get a reasonable price for their trucks.
I think I could get about $7000 out of my '99 with 179k miles on the odo and a pretty extensive set of receipts of all the maintenance done including a couple fixes and the truck has minimal rust thanks to it spending almost it's whole life in Colorado.

IMHO KBB is a terrible reference for old yota's!

This is a sweet rig. Mike took the time to send me some extra pictures and details via email. It was slightly beyond what I was looking for but it'll be an awesome out-of-the-box wheeler for someone.

WRT the price -- I've been looking for several months now and I say that it's comparable to our area's pricing (SF + Sac). And of course, both sides always need to have their room to work with in any deal.
