When I go to salvage yards on Saturdays I rarely see wheels on 4Runners, and if I do they are usually damaged or the early 6-spoke version in bad condition.
I've seen posts where forum members are looking for 5-Star wheels, so I'm going to start trying to get them whenever I find them in good condition. In my opinion 5-Stars are probably one of the 3 or 4 best-looking wheels that you can put on a 3rd Gen - this includes all of the aftermarket options that fit the 4Runner, as well as other Toyota wheels. If you look on eBay the price on these is a little ridiculous at up to $150 each before shipping. I'm going to find the best wheels I can and list them here for what I think is a fair price. Sometimes I cannot get the wheels because the guys at the salvage yard quote me over $100. I only buy rims in good condition. If I look at 20 wheels I will pass on 19 of them. The two wheels you see here are the ones I cherry picked out of over 150 3rd Gen 4Runners I have rummaged through in the past month.
If you need to replace one or two 5-Star wheels then these are perfect for you. If you need 4 or 5 I would get wheels in good condition when you have a chance and continue that until you have a full set. You will usually not find all 4 or 5 at the same time in the exact condition you want. If these sell quickly I will be getting more, so don't worry about not being able to eventually get a full set.
The two wheels pictured below are in very good condition, but they are not in pristine or like-new condition. In my opinion they look outstanding for being 15 years old. They each have some tool marks on one of the rims of the lug nut holes, but only 1 hole out of 6 on each one (the one at the 4:00 position in each photo has the tool marks). The other 5 don't have tool marks. There are some slight nicks and minor flaking along the outside of the rim where the weights go, but no major curb rash. Please look at the photos carefully - the wheel you choose in the photo is the one you get. A is maybe a little nicer than B, but honestly they are almost exactly the same. A also comes with 6 lug nuts - I do not have the lug nuts for B. I do not have center caps for either of these. The yellow salvage yard paint pen numbers eventually comes off, so don't worry about that.
These prices do not include shipping. I calculated shipping yesterday for one wheel from Texas to California and it came out to between $30 and $38 per wheel with Fedex Ground and Standard USPS. There should be a savings shipping two together.
