Any reason why you didn't close off the back railing? So instead of a V around the fin it would be more like a pointy D?

I'm still waiting for mine, but as soon as I get it, and mount it, I'll have some pictures up here for it. I thinking it should be sometime around the first week of november, but I know they are busy so thats just what i heard last.

Strongly recommend putting RTV silicone under the small black spacers and using thread lock on your bolts when you install. I did not and had a bolt come loose and had a small leak at that bolt in a huge storm. I should have put the thread locker on the bolts for sure. Be advised.

Did you put silicone in the bolt holes? Or did thread locker alone do the job?

Measuring from where the rain gutters are, it's more than 4". But from the center of the 4Runner, it's about 1/2"-5/8". The rack itself is 3.5" tall, which is pretty short for a basket type roof rack.

Any reason why you didn't close off the back railing? So instead of a V around the fin it would be more like a pointy D?

Closing it off would create faraday cage and disrupt your GPS signal.

I wouldn't put silicone in the bolt holes, I don't see any moisture getting in there actually and I'm sure thread locker is fine. In my case the spot where the bolt backed out was different then all the others, the white piece sticking out of the roof had a rather large gap compared to the others and with the bolt sticking up the water had an easy path in as the black spacer is plastic and I'm sure floats.

Again I should have used thread locker the first time, especially when Toyota chose to use the stronger thread locker to begin with.

I stand by the "better to be safe than sorry" approach.

When installing at the shop, I use a dab of silicone on the bolt threads.

It wouldn't hurt to put a drop of loctite on the bottom of the bolt threads and a dab of silicone in the middle of the bolt.

When i ordered he didn't ship to Canada, but living in Calgary i was able to get him to ship to the Montana Shipping Depot. cost was around $200 at the time.

No plans for a ladder, this roof rack was designed to work with Gobi's.

I ordered it at the end of August, still haven't got it, but I know Alex is very busy and he is getting them done as soon as he can. i believe he also ran into a issue with his Powder Coater. but I'd rather wait for it and have it done well than try and get him to rush.

I do plan on adding a ladder, but I'm gonna wait. I'll end up getting GOBI ladder when i do decide to get one.
