I am selling an AFE Intake kit for the V6 4runner, 4th Gen.

Complete kit, includes all hardware and attachments, come with an AFE Pro Dry (gray) filter.

I used the kit for 5 days, so its 99% new (wasn't quite the sound I was looking for, probably need to go with an exhaust for my tastes).

Asking $270 plus shipping, located at 06413. Its a light box, so should not be too much at all to ship standard rate with tracking.

Bump…have it and love it but got the oiled filter when I bought off Craigslist, will be putting in a dry soon! This is a great price!

May I ask what that black piece on top of the silver shield is? I didn't notice this on mine, or at least it wasn't loose…

That black piece is a plug for the lower port on the air filter box. Incase you want to close it off I guess.

Gotcha…I think mine is closed, which is good for me. Replaced my k&n with this a week before wheeling and glad I did because it was covered on mud…just took that cover off and gonna go drive and see if it makes a difference…will likely connect my torque app later and see if it has any affect on air flow or temp…

Did some research so I figured I'd share…

The hole in the front is designed to allow more airflow at higher speeds. Leaving it open will result in higher air intake temps at lower speeds but this is offset at higher speeds due to increased flow.

When the kit first came out, it appears there was no plug supplied by afe, or it was an option. A bunch of FJ guys ran tests with it open and then closed with custom covers (ranging from duct tape to custom metal plates). The results showed increased temp and sound with the hole open.

My thoughts are that this is like the deckate mod and I will try to use the cover when it makes sense. Summertime, ill leave it closed since its already hot. When I take longer trips, maybe ill open it. Might leave it open when the outside temp drops as well. Will always make sure it's closed when wheeling to keep it sealed and given the fact that low speeds will get better results when the hole is closed.

I'm glad afe decided to include a plug of their own after others had made makeshift covers. This shows they paid attention to customer feedback and usage and improved their design!

I still plan on testing air flow and temps at some point but I know what to expect now!
