The one item that I'm weary of buying used are tires. My family will be riding on these things so it's important that they be safe for me and them. I don't have the means to mount them, balance them, and so I want to be sure the place I take them to will actually put them on. I go to America's Tire / Discount Tire and they won't install anything older than 5 years or anything with uneven wear.
Like you, I just lifted my truck and actually just bought a second set of used 4th Gen alloy rims for $200 that I'd like to throw either ATs or MTs on and dedicate them to off-highway use. I'd like to get larger tires, either 285/70 or 255/80, but when I saw your offer drop by $100 after posting a price of "$600 Firm" just 2 days before, I thought, maybe I should jump on this. The wife told me to stop spending money on my hobby and so I was going to have to wait on the new tires for a bit. I'm still deciding if I should jump on this, but in the meantime I was hoping to help a fellow T4R member out by helping you possibly sell the tires faster based on research that I have done.
I've been researching, or "trolling" if that's what you call it, tires for quite some time (even before my lift). Pretty much every classified ad I've read here or Craigslist or eBay shows pictures of the mfg date, the tread depth, and pictures of all of the tires. When you first posted your ad, you had one picture of a tire on a wheel but the advertisement said "tires only" so I didn't know if you had already dismounted them or not. With the tire still on the wheel, I didn't know how old the picture was. I looked through your previous posts and saw that you had gone off-road quite a bit and so I tried to see the condition of the tires there too. You didn't note how many tires you were selling and that's why I PMed you about the quantity. You still have only taken a photo of one tire so I don't know the condition of the others but I'm assuming they're all ok.
Anyway, I'm still on the fence but hopefully by providing more clarification to your post, you will sell them faster. I hope to see you on the trail someday. Best regards!
