fuel door spring retainer

The plastic piece that retains the fuel door spring is broken: meaning every time I open the fuel door, the spring falls out. If I epoxy the spring to the plastic piece, will that hold up? Or, does anyone know if the spring retainer is available? It appears that I would have to buy the fuel door if I wanted a new retainer. Any suggestions would be appreciated. This is for a 2000 4runner.

Same type of thing happened on mine awhile back. I just used some JB Weld on it and it's still holding going on 6 months.
