Fuel Filter 4th gen's & fluids change

I was replacing air filter and cabin filter ( which was caked with crap).

Any other filters I should replace ??

I asked then about what looked like a fuel filter to me . It was inline near manifold area . They said there is no such thing. The filter is in the tank , if I remember correctly the fuel pump is there , but didn't thing the fuel filter was. I always thought there was an online fuel filter on everything.

If there is such a thing a pic and part no would help.

I have 60k on my 06 . I want to change all the fluids . What should I do ... Transmission , Transfer case , rear diff , front diff , center diff (or is that the same as T case ??) I'm not going to do synthetic as I feel the the stock fluids are fine when kept maintained. Do I have them do a flush and fill on all of them or a drain and change ??

In the tank where the fuel pump lives there is a "sock" which is just a fine screen wrapped around the fuel pump intake tube. There is no inline filter in the line from the tank to the fuel injection. I still think it's early to do the trans unless you tow alot. The transfer case/center diff. and front and rear diff. are drain and refill. I don't know of any other filters except the engine oil filter.

It's somewhat of an air filter buts it's part of the vacuum system, and the line I believe you are referring to runs back to the charcoal canister.

I was wondering the same thing when I recently hit 30k miles. I couldn't find anything about a serviceable fuel filter. Also, from what I hear, even the coolant doesn't have to be replaced until 100k miles. I'm trying to think of what else I missed (brake fluid flush maybe???) but I can't find anything in the maintenance schedule on the V8 4R's other than gear oil changes in the diffs that needs to be done before a 100k miles. It's hard to believe, but basically these things only need the oil changed for the most part. I'm not complaining, but it seems as though I should be doing more maintenance on this thing than I am. Am I missing anything???

It's the new age of car design. As building tolerances become greater, engine/drivetrains become more efficient, and lubricants (ie synthetics) improve in wear properties, maintanance has been greatly extended on modern cars. Just follow your maintanance schedules (mostly oil and filters) and you'll be fine.

One of the main advantages of synthetic is that they'll flow and protect in very cold temperatures. Do I have them do a flush and fill on all of them or a drain and change ?? Drain and change. On the transmisssion go with the dealers recommendation provided the recommendation isn't "do nothing, it's lifetime fluid".

You may end up with a Daystar huh? It sucks for you but I'm glad they're out there... Any used ones T120, here or FJC forum?

Mike - I have an '05 limited v6 4wd. I have changed my transfer case and both diff to 75w-90 Mobil 1 synthetic fluid at 30,000. I have also changed my plugs at 30,000 and will need to every 30,000 per toyota recommendations. I used the stock plugs that came in the engine, but half of the v6 was different from the factory. One side was NGK and the other Denso I think. It was really odd, but it came from the factory like this and it's not uncommon for this per Toyota.

I have also lubed the drive shafts with synthetic grease, but not too much because the shaft needs to move back into the transfer case. Often you will feel a thumb when you come to a stop, that's normal. Kind of feels like someone bumped your back bumper after coming to a stop. Again, normal per Toyota.

Cabin filter was replaced around 30,000 and had junk in it, but will do that next time myself and buy a home HVAC filter and cut to size!

I think that's about it. I did have to replace my front brakes at 37,000 because they would have a high pitch squeak when cold outside. Replacing the pads with another set of Toyota pads did the trick. I do need to have the back pads repalced and I'm going to replace the rotors at the same time and select Brembo's (OEM type). They have been shaved one time and I have 55,000 miles now and I think they are needing shaving again, so I'm just going to replace them and skip shaving this time. I will use the Summitomo brake pads from Toyota.
